Chapter 586 He’s Here
Ayla gestured to Noah that she had something to deal with and stepped aside to take the call.
She did not want to ask polite questions like “What do you want,” so she stayed silent.
After three or four seconds, Troy’s voice came through again. “Happy holiday.”
Two seconds passed before Ayla reluctantly replied, “Happy holiday.”
“You don’t want to ask me anything?” he asked.
“No,” Ayla said.
“Heh,” Troy let out a few low laughs. “That’s fine. just missed you too much. I wanted to hear your voice, so I called.”
Troy had not changed at all. Just like before, he did not care whether she wanted to hear from him. He only cared about himself.
Ayla frowned. “Troy, there’s really no need for this anymore. Wouldn’t it be better if we each lived our own lives? What’s the point of saying things like this now? I’m with Draven. That’s a fact. You’ve seen it. You know it.”
Three thousand feet away, in the presidential suite on the top floor of the hotel, a pair of binoculars was set up by the floor-to-ceiling window. Troy stared through the lens at Ayla standing in the garden with her phone, looking like a voyeur. For the past few months, almost every time he dreamed, he dreamed of her.
Meanwhile, Ayla and Draven were traveling together, shopping, sightseeing, living like an old married couple, calm and happy.
Troy’s eyes were bloodshot. “Once I realized I loved you, I couldn’t live my own life properly anymore, unless you were still by my side.”
Ayla’s instincts had been right. Troy was obsessive. Even if it was not love, his personality alone meant he would never let go easily. And now he was doing all of this under the excuse of loving her.
“Troy, I’m telling you clearly. It’s impossible,” Aylh said firmly.
In the binoculars, Ayla’s expression turned ugly, as if he were something untouchable, like trash whose existence alone disgusted her.
“Is it really impossible? Why do I feel like I still have a bit of hope?” Troy asked softly.

Ayla tightened her grip on her phone. “Troy, we were married for three years. Let’s stop circling around it. What do you actually want? Just say it. Stop hiding in some dark corner doing disgusting little tricks.”
From the moment Ayla divorced Troy, they became enemies. If an enemy did not fall, you prepared to face them. Now Ayla was steady and had plenty of support behind her. Even if Troy wanted to kidnap her, he no longer had the ability. There was nothing left for her to fear.
Troy clenched his hand. “Ayla, I didn’t call you to fight. I shouldn’t have made this call at all. I just missed you too much and wanted to hear your voice, so I couldn’t stop myself. Why is it that every time we talk, it turns into an argument? Can’t we just talk calmly for once?”
“Talking calmly requires respect and equality. Troy, have you ever done that? Since you haven’t, I don’t need to be polite to you,” Ayla said.
Troy said bluntly, “Sorry. I can’t respect you. I’m a selfish person. Us ending up like this feels inevitable.”
“Then why are you still asking me anything?” Aylh said.
“Yes, I know everything, but I can’t pretend to be a good man like Draven. Ayla, wasn’t this version of me what you liked back then?” Troy replied.
Ayla fell silent and tightened her grip on the phone again. “Troy, let’s say I was unlucky. Let’s say I was stupid. Is that good enough?”
Her words were cruel. Troy felt a sharp pain in his chest. “Are you saying you regret loving me?”
Ayla’s expression struggled for a moment before she answered firmly, “If you keep acting like this, then yes. I regret loving you.”
Troy laughed. After laughing for a while, his voice turned sharp and cold. “Ayla, if we’re destined not to be together, then I’ll make sure you never forget me for the rest of your life. I’ll be a thorn stuck between you and Draven that you can never pull out.”
Ayla’s hand trembled slightly.
“Ayla, I’ll come find you. Wait for me.”
The moment Troy hung up, Draven suddenly appeared in the binoculars’ view. He pulled Ayla into his arms, checked that she was unharmed, then lifted his head and looked sharply in Troy’s direction. The distance was far. Their eyes could not possibly meet, yet it felt as though they did, locked in a silent confrontation across the space.
Troy let out a cold laugh. “So I was spotted that fast?”
