Ayla was puzzled.
Kaleb knew she didn't really get it, but that was all he could say.
Bria was the strongest-willed person he'd ever met.
He loved how she could turn a situation upside down and not give a single damn. He liked how she acted on impulse and shattered every sense of order.
To put it simply, Bria had brought color into his black-and-white world. That was the most special thing she had given him.
Ayla knew that getting Kaleb to say even that much was no small feat. She couldn't help sighing. "Fate really works in mysterious ways."
The moment Kaleb heard that, he thought of Troy and sneered. "Yeah. And when two people aren't right for each other, even marriage won't keep them together."
Ayla knew Kaleb would probably never warm up to Troy, not in this lifetime. But if he ended up marrying Bria, he'd have to take Troy's feelings into consideration. After all, Troy was her brother.
Just picturing that future dynamic gave Ayla a headache, but that was a problem for another day.
Ayla said, "I'll take that as you finally approving of Draven."
Kaleb genuinely didn't have any complaints about Draven anymore. Over the past year, Draven had been absolutely flawless, leaving Kaleb with zero room to criticize him.
In fact, there were plenty of things Kaleb quietly learned from him. Draven had a lot of qualities worth learning from, and because of that, Kaleb's respect for his future brother-in-law had grown.
Ayla said, "Alright then, just be happy with Bria. If anything comes up, you can tell me."
Kaleb was obviously happy to have her support, but he couldn't resist acting cocky. "There's nothing I can't handle for now."
Ayla smacked him and told him to get out.
...
After Ayla got home from work, she brought it up to Draven.
Draven already knew.
Both of them were pretty open-minded. It's just that because of Ayla's history with Troy, it made Bria and Ayla's relationship somewhat unique.
Still, you can't fight destiny, and there was no use trying to break them up.
For now, they were just dating. Everything else was still a long way off.
Ayla was curious. "What do you think Troy thinks about all this?"
Now that Ayla and Draven's relationship was stronger than ever, mentioning Troy wasn't a taboo subject anymore. "He won't interfere," Draven said.
