Chapter 178 The One Who Showed Up

Chapter 178 The One Who Showed Up

Max finally relaxed a little.

He didn’t say anything else and followed Troy out.

When they were gone, Ayla pulled her gaze back.

Draven stood there, calm and unreadable.

He hadn’t said a word, yet his presence alone was enough to make Troy back off.

“Mr. Storm, when did you get here?” Ayla asked, warm as always.

Draven had arrived much earlier, right when Ayla bumped into Troy.

He had seen everything clearly.

He saw how Ayla looked at Troy the moment she saw him, checking if he had been hurt in the fight.

They were divorced now, but the only person Ayla still reacted to without thinking was still Troy.

Draven tightened his hand. He didn’t speak.

Casey called out softly, “Ayla.”

She turned to him.

“I have something to take care of. I’ll head out first,” Casey said.

He avoided looking directly at Draven, but in the corner of his eye, he caught Draven giving him a light glance.

That one look almost scared him speechless.

He’d met important people before, but no one had ever scared him like Draven did.

Ayla knew Casey was intimidated and gave him a small nod.

The moment Casey left, Draven’s phone suddenly rang.

Not far away, James walked out waving his own phone. “Draven, want to grab a drink?”

Halfway through the sentence, he spotted Draven and Ayla standing together,

James was shocked.

Did I miss something?!

Ayla wasn’t surprised Draven was here, mostly because of James. He loved drama more than anyone. Once Max finished making a mess and left, James definitely wouldn’t sit still. Of course, he’d drag Draven over.

Ayla silently decided to stay away from James for the rest of the night.

But James walked over anyway and looked rather surprised. “When did you get here? I didn’t even call you!”

Ayla blinked and looked at Draven.

James didn’t call him?

Did he come on his own?

Draven ignored James completely. He looked at Ayla instead and asked in a low, steady voice, “Are you now?”

Even if she wasn’t, she’d have to be. “I’m free,” she said.

“Come with me.”

Those three words left no room for refusal. Ayla nodded. “Mr. Storm, wait for me. I need to grab my bag.”

The second she walked away, James rushed over. “I knew it! I totally guessed it right!”

Draven shot him a cold warning look. He warned him icyly, “Stop stirring things behind the scenes.”

James instantly understood Draven wasn’t happy. He wasn’t dumb enough to push it. “I was just venting in the group chat. I didn’t think Ayla would actually order a male escort.”

Draven fell silent.

Male escort.

He turned his eyes toward the direction Casey had left.

James lifted the corner of his mouth. “Don’t tell me you’re not surprised. I was shocked too, okay? That’s the only reason I shared it in the group chat. I wasn’t trying to stir anything up.”

Even James didn’t believe his own excuse.

Draven’s cold stare made it very clear he didn’t either.

James raised both hands. “Fine, fine. I won’t do stuff like that again.”

He tried to explain, “Last time we played tennis, Will pulled me aside and said you didn’t like Ayla at all. And you saw it; I went straight back to Zheron after that I didn’t even have time to mess around. I only flew in today because I honestly wanted to throw Ayla a/party.”

But when Draven remembered the ten men James had lined up for that party, his face went even colder.

James muttered, “Ayla didn’t even go anyway. She didn’t give me the slightest bit of credit.”

Draven’s gaze swept past him.

Ayla had already stepped out with her bag.

Only then did Draven cut James a sideways look. “Stay away from her.”

James had no words.
