Ayla didn’t dare to interrupt; instead, she quietly motioned for the staff to set everything down

Even while seated, Draven didn’t lose an ounce of his presence. In fact, the way he focused made him look even more mature and sharp.
Ayla’s eyes were drawn to his hands.
His fingers were long and graceful. Even playing with tiny wooden blocks looked natural on him. His hands were so striking that she felt a strange, hard-to-name pull.
She was lost in the scene until a small block slipped from his fingers and bounced onto the floor.
As his secretary, Ayla reacted fast. She bent down, grabbed it, and planned to set it on the table. But Draven had already opened his palm, quietly waiting.
Sh
placed the block in his hand.
She looked at him, just a quick glance.
But he caught her eyes. She had no time to guard herself and fell straight into his deep, steady gaze.
There was only one explanation: Draven had been watching her.
Most people couldn’t hold that kind of eye contact.
Ayla’s heart sped up before she could stop it.
Draven looked away, calm as ever, and kept building.
She finally noticed he was putting together a crescent moon. The block that fell was the final piece.
When he finished, he set the “moon” inside a clear glass display box.
He tapped the top gently, then looked at her. “What did you pick out?”
Ayla quickly pulled the tray closer.
The
cup
she chose also had a moon design. Its glass was cut so well that the “moon” threw off a soft, stunning glow.
Draven looked at the cup, then at her. He asked in a low voice, “It’s for me?”
Ayla said nothing.
Draven nodded lightly. “Okay. I’ll take it.”
Ayla gave no response.

She was shocked. Was Draven really asking her for a gift? Wasn’t he supposed to give her a divorce gift?
But she couldn’t voice that concern; it felt too awkward. And since he already asked, how could she say no?
“Mr. Storm, I hope you will like it.”
She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but the corner of his mouth seemed to lift-just a trace.
Before she could think more, Draven slid the moon he had worked so hard to build inside a glass box right in front of her.
Then, he gently slid the box toward her.
He looked straight into her eyes and said, “Your gift.”
The store’s lights were warm and soft, falling across his face. To Ayla, his strong, clean features looked unreal for a moment-almost impossibly handsome.
The man’s glow was too much to take in.
Ayla narrowed her eyes without meaning to.
She looked down at the little moon he had spent so much time building, one block at a time. For a man with the kind of wealth Draven had, this gift was shockingly simple. But Ayla felt the care behind it. The
attention. The effort.
If Draven wanted to, he could give her anything-something rare, expensive, or even over the top. But they were still just boss and secretary. Accepting something extravagant wouldn’t feel right.
The glass cup was pricey too, but because of what happened before, accepting it would’ve felt natural. Draven giving it to her and her giving it back fit the balance between them.
But this moon he built himself? This was better than any fancy gift. It meant something. It carried his time
and intention.
Ayla picked up the gift. She wanted to tell him she was moved. Deeply.
But that didn’t feel like something she should say out loud.
Without meeting his eyes, she said softly, “Thank you.”
Draven didn’t say anything else. He told the staff to pack everything up, and Ayla went to pay,
Just as she reached for the bag, Draven stepped behind her and took it first.
His arm came around her from behind. For a second, if felt like she was standing inside half of his embrace. She quietly stepped aside to make space.
After taking the bag, Draven said, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Mr. Storm.”

He didn’t add more. Ayla fell into step beside him again.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
