Ayla said, “I used your name and took advantage of you.” She mentioned the results. “Even though I couldn’t see Troy’s face, I know he was definitely very unhappy.”

Troy being miserable was something Draven was happy to see. Ayla had to spell it all out to cheer him up a bit.

Just a little tactic to please the boss.

Draven’s mood, which hadn’t been great a moment ago, was suddenly soothed by Ayla. It was like clouds parting after a storm, even better than before.

Of course, even if he felt bad inside, he wouldn’t show it to Ayla. Given their current relationship, even if she reunited with Troy, he had no right to interfere. All his emotions had to be borne alone.

Draven let out a soft laugh. “You really said that to him?”

Ayla froze. She’d never seen Draven smile before. Though the smile was very faint, he was so good-looking that his smile was particularly stunning.

Without any romantic feelings involved, Ayla was simply dazzled by Draven’s smile. She stared into his eyes, stunned for at least two seconds before answering, “Yes.”

Ayla’s direct stare caught Draven’s attention. Unexpectedly, he actually looked away. After a second, he looked back, showing no sign of anything unusual. “Since you put it that way, I have to deliver.”

Ayla replied, “That’s not necessary, Mr. Storm. I’ve already taken care of Kaleb’s situation.”

Of course, she didn’t mention she’d just pulled off a stunt with Kaleb.

In front of Draven, Ayla always maintained a very proper and professional image. When she’d secretly gone after that scumbag director in Aqualith, she actually didn’t want Draven to know.

Ayla was concerned about her image in front of Draven.

Draven had seen the complex technical documents piled on Ayla’s dining table and knew what she’d done in Aqualith. Her professional abilities were remarkably impressive.

When Kaleb’s company had a breach, if Draven helped, he could only find professional technical talent. The people he had available probably weren’t as capable as Ayla.

Draven could understand why Kaleb was so protective of her. Ayla was outstanding enough.

“I have the resources. Kaleb’s game development project needs long-term funding, and I have the capital

to invest in him.”

Draven had already thoroughly investigated Kaleb.

Ayla refused. “That’s not necessary, Mr. Storm. Actually, I—”

Draven looked at her calmly. The pressure from his gaze made Ayla understand he’d already made his decision.

Once Draven made up his mind, it was hard to convince him to change it.

She could refuse Max, but she couldn’t turn down Draven’s goodwill.

She stopped wasting energy arguing and instead said, “Mr. Storm, Kaleb has the final say in his company. If you really want to invest, you should ask him.”

Given Kaleb’s attitude toward Draven, there was an 80% chance he wouldn’t accept.

Draven replied, “Alright.”

Having come this far in the conversation, there wasn’t much else to discuss. Before leaving, Ayla looked at Draven’s face. She’d never teased him about anything before, but because of Kaleb’s foul mouth, she said sincerely, “Mr. Storm, you’re very young and extremely handsome. Kaleb must be blind to say such awful things. Please don’t take it to heart.”

Since Draven was planning to invest, he obviously didn’t care about Kaleb’s offense. Ayla didn’t need to apologize anymore. She’d just wanted to say this.

After saying it, she realized she might have crossed a boundary. But Ayla’s expression remained completely normal, and her tone was as serious as if she were reporting work. “Mr. Storm, I’m leaving now. Good night.”

With that, Ayla left in her usual cool and distant manner.

Draven watched her retreating figure. Usually, when Ayla reached the door, she would turn back and nod politely at him before closing the door. Today she didn’t look back.

Draven stood up and went to the bathroom, standing before the mirror.

The distinguished and aloof CEO rarely looked at himself in the mirror, but now he stared at his reflection, seriously examining his own deep-set eyes.

When Ayla had stared at him just now, did she think his eyes were attractive?

Draven couldn’t figure it out.

However, these charming eyes that naturally carried an air of authority closely resembled his mother, Vivian Storm.

A private coffee club tucked away from the busy streets

Troy received a call from Jed. “Mr. Winston, Storm Group has had no dealings with Kaleb.”

Troy’s mood, which had been agitated all afternoon, suddenly calmed. Ayla had indeed been deliberately saying things to provoke him.
