When Halle first bought out LugiX, the later add-on agreement was profit sharing. Ayla had no direct tie to ZeitTech back then. Still, back in college, the two had agreed to start a business together someday. They had simply missed the right timing.
Seeing Halle so excited, Ayla felt a long-lost spark reignite in her heart.
By this point, ZeitTech was no longer built on LugiX alone. It had other products and new lines of business, too. All of that came from Halle’s hard work. Ayla joining three years later was honestly a big advantage for her.
But Ayla did not turn it down. She only nodded. “Okay.”
Halle earned her first real money from LugiX. They had helped each other grow and understood each other so well that no explanation was necessary. From now on, Ayla would give her all to upgrading LugiX and helping ZeitTech reach a higher level.
Then Ayla thought of Draven and Storm Group.
“I’m getting ready to resign,” she said.
Halle knew very well that research and development took time and energy. “Have you told Draven yet?”
“Not yet.” This was actually a decision Ayla had just made.
After she got married, Carmen had scolded her coldly and indirectly. That very night, Ayla sent out resumes and joined Storm Group. At the time, she did not know that the CEO of Storm Group was
Draven.
Thinking of Carmen, Ayla remembered how distant and sharp-tongued she was with everyone, which kept Troy from getting close to her at all. Other than necessary meetings, they barely interacted.
“Ayla, I suddenly feel like you and Draven are kind of meant to cross paths,” Halle said with a smile. “Otherwise, how did you end up working as his secretary? There are plenty of easy jobs like that out there.” “Maybe,” Ayla said with a sigh. “I can’t believe I’ve been at Storm Group for three years already.”
She continued, “My marriage hasn’t been happy these past years. But once I got to work, I could breathe again. This job actually suited me.”
In a loveless marriage, Ayla somehow found a place for her heart. She had work to do and friends at the company. That helped her live more calmly.
She had planned to quit before because she got pregnant. After losing the baby, she stayed on. Then she waited until Draven returned to the country.
Thinking about it now, Ayla felt that they really did have some kind of fate.
“I need to give one month’s notice, so I still have a month as a buffer.”

“That’s fine. No rush, Halle said. “I still need time to build your team and do interviews. I’ll get the team ready this month. Once you’re here, we’ll officially start R&D.”
Halle thought of Rolf and let out a cold laugh. “He’s just here to show his face at the alumni dinner tonight. His personal ability isn’t that strong. He’s been hiring a lot recently, too, so he’s still in the early stage. Our progress is about the same.”
Looking at Ayla, Halle felt completely at case. “With you here, I don’t have to worry about our products at all.”
“Don’t worry. I won’t let you down,” Ayla said. She had full confidence in her professional skills. She had grown up under heavy pressure from Juliana to compete with others, so competition never scared her.
“Ayla, once your notice period ends, welcome back to Zeit Tech, Halle said softly. “Just like we promised in college-starting a company together after graduation. The road wasn’t smooth, but in the end, we’re back at our original promise.”
Just thinking about it made Halle incredibly happy. She had not drunk so freely in a long time.
“We’ll keep getting better,” Halle said.
“Yes. We definitely will,” Ayla replied.
She tightened her grip on Halle’s hand.

Why is half of each of these chapters missing? The story sort of trails off in the middle of the chapter. That’s unfortunate....
