Divorce me I'm done serving you (Ayla) novel Chapter 926

"That's just how fate works," Bria said. "When you meet the right person, you meet them. I'm with someone I love. Why are you so angry about that? Mom, shouldn't you be happy for me? I'm finally in a real relationship. Can't you just be supportive for once? As for Troy, there's nothing I can do about that. He and Ayla just weren't meant to be. And their divorce happened because he made mistakes. He messed up, and now he's dealing with the consequences. That has nothing to do with me. Do you think I should suffer the consequences for his mistakes? That makes zero sense!"

Bria was never the type to let anyone guilt-trip her. None of this was her fault.

Carmen was so furious she could barely get the words out. "Looks like I've spoiled you too much. That's why you think you can act this recklessly!"

"How am I being reckless?" Bria shouted back. "Troy and Ayla have been divorced for almost two years! It's been forever, and you still can't let her go! Mom, don't you think it's time to move on? Why can't you let the past go? If I were you, I wouldn't waste my energy dwelling on old history. All it does is make you miserable. What matters now is me—whether your daughter is happy. Not those people and things that don't even matter anymore! And if you're determined to fight me on this, I'm not backing down."

Carmen trembled with anger. "So all that sweet, obedient behavior was just an act?"

Bria said, "I'm not trying to make you mad on purpose."

"You're exactly like Troy!" Carmen snapped. "He was just as impulsive when he rushed into marrying Ayla, never giving a damn about how anyone else felt! And now you're doing the same thing!"

Bria was furious. "Why should I care how everyone else feels? You want me to do something I don't want to do, and somehow that's okay?"

The argument quickly spiraled out of control. Neither of them was willing to give in, and neither could convince the other.

Whether someone can live a happy life has nothing to do with anyone else; it's entirely about their personality.

Bria had met Draven's mother before. Kayla truly lived for herself. She was clear-headed and understood life better than most people.

But her own mother was trapped in the past, unable to move on. That was why she had become the way she was now.

Bria wished Carmen could just let things go and be happier. But when her mother couldn't even accept her relationship with Kaleb, it was obvious she was still living in the past.

And that would only make her own life more painful.

Kaleb was not someone who backed away from problems. He wanted to talk to Carmen alone, but she completely shut him out and refused to communicate with him.

There was nothing he could do, but at least he now saw Carmen for who she really was.

He had decided he would no longer worry so much about Carmen's feelings. If she couldn't support his relationship with Bria, then he wouldn't waste his time worrying about Carmen's feelings.

The news of Kaleb and Bria's relationship caused quite a stir within the Winstons. Because of this, Bria's being grounded was pushed aside for the moment.

Soon afterward, Troy called Bria in for a talk.
