Chapter 103
Roxy had always believed that everyone had a price. Sunny and the others were just using this opportunity to bargain for more, and she could afford to make the offer.
“You lot sure are getting lucky!” Calvin scoffed.
However, to Roxy and the others‘ surprise, Sunny shook his head and replied, “Our minds are made up, Ms. Sloan.”
“Why?”
Roxy genuinely couldn’t understand this. Did Ashton truly have that much influence over them?
It was one thing for Amelia to go with him. After all, being a woman meant that a man’s words would easily trick her–readily swayed by her emotions and prone to making unwise decisions.
But surely Sunny and the others would be more realistic than that!
Sunny’s expression became a little thoughtful as he reminisced, “Perhaps you didn’t know, Ms. Sloan, but we only joined Summit Lounge because of Mr. Gray. He’d saved our lives before.
“People like us who came from the martial underworld might not have received a great deal of education, but we know what it means to be grateful and to have loyalty.”
“So what you’re saying is, you’re determined to leave no matter what?” Roxy asked, feeling a crushing sense of exhaustion.
“I apologize.”
“I won’t be keeping you, then. If you ever change your mind, our doors will always be open to you.”
“We’ll go wherever Mr. Gray goes!” Sunny said.
After bidding Roxy a final goodbye, the men left without any hesitation.
“Hah! What’s the big deal? They can leave if they want! I know a few expert gamblers myself, Roxy. Even without them, nothing will happen to the casino!” Calvin confidently declared.
“You know nothing! An expert like Sunny is nearly impossible to find. You can’t just hire one off the streets. I’m certain that once word gets out that Sunny and his men have left Summit Lounge, the other card sharks will be itching to have a go at us.
“We need to be prepared, Ms. Sloan. Why don’t you talk to Mr. Gray?” Anna suggested.
She was starting to get quite anxious. In just a single night, the once–mighty Summit Lounge seemed to be teetering on the verge of collapse.
“What are you trying to say, Anna? Do you want to leave with Ashton as well? I saw right through you from the start. You’ve been taking his side the whole time!” Calvin roared.
Leveling an icy stare at Calvin, Anna retorted, “None of this would’ve happened today if Mr. Gray had been here. He’s not at all like certain people who only know how to talk big but prove to be completely useless when things go wrong.‘

“What did you say?”
“That’s enough! Stop arguing!”
Up to her ears in frustration, Roxy said grimly, “Calvin, please find a few card sharks. We need to keep things going smoothly for now. Anna, go out there and calm everyone down. Get in touch with the other liquor suppliers as well.
“As for our resident performer, I’ll get a few people from Summit Media…”
Halfway through sorting things out, Roxy trailed off when she saw the managers, bartenders, and a few of the servers coming toward her.
They all had the same expression as Amelia and Sunny when the two left earlier!
Roxy’s heart jumped to her throat. Forcing herself to stay calm, she asked, “What’s going on, Mr. Ewing?”
Jonas Ewing, one of the managers, said on behalf of everyone, “Ms. Sloan, we’re here to submit our resignation. We won’t be coming to work tomorrow.”
He placed the stack of resignation letters on Roxy’s desk, which was now covered with a mountain of envelopes.
“Why? Is it because of Ashton?TM
Roxy’s reddened eyes were now pooling with tears of frustration and indignation. Hadn’t she been good to these people? Why were they all leaving her just because she got a divorce from Ashton?
Could it be that all along, their loyalty hadn’t been with her but with Ashton, the man whom she considered completely useless?
“Mr. Gray hired us, Ms. Sloan. When we were on the brink of despair, he was the one who gave us the hope to carry on and helped us regain our dignity. We swore that we would follow him wherever he went,” Jonas answered.
“We’re grateful for the care you’ve shown us all these years, Ms. Sloan, but we’ve made up our minds. I hope you’ll accept our decision.”
From the looks of it, more than half of the employees at Summit Lounge had submitted their resignation letters. It was basically a mutiny.
“Have you all lost your minds!” Calvin blew up. “What’s so good about Ashton, huh? Why are all of you going to such lengths just to remain loyal to him?
“Is this some kind of stunt? Did you guys secretly plan this with him, hoping to use this situation to force Roxy into getting back together with him?
“That’s it, isn’t it? I’m sure that’s it. You mustn’t fall for it, Roxy!”
