Chapter 12
At night, the streets of Javonbury were filled with traffic. Cars sped by beneath the dazzling lights of the city.
“Mr. Gray, Ms. Langley, we’ve arrived.”
“Thanks, Mr. Larson. I’ll have someone pick up the car from Noir Bar tomorrow,” Sylvia said with a radiant smile.
Gene soon bade them goodbye and headed back to Noir Bar. Just then, a pair of headlights appeared. Roxy and Calvin were back as well.
Roxy’s and Sylvia’s villas were right next to each other. Thus, as soon as they got out of the car, the four of them bumped into each other again.
“Ashton! It’s you again! What are you doing here at Lakeview Heights?” Calvin barked the moment he saw Ashton. “You and Roxy are getting a divorce! Don’t tell me you’re shameless enough to continue to stay here!”
Although Roxy’s expression remained emotionless, she chimed in, “I won’t allow you to sleep in the house tonight, Ashton. You can find yourself a motel. If you don’t have the money for it, I can give you some.”
A soft, lilting laugh rang out. Sylvia stepped up and wrapped her arms around Ashton from behind before staring right at Roxy.
“You’ve misunderstood the situation, Roxy. Ashton didn’t come here to return to your place. He’s staying with me. It took a great deal of pleading from me before he agreed to move in with me.”
Licking her lips, she continued to hug Ashton with a look of bliss. Her words had been like a slap to the face for Roxy.
“What did you just say?”
No matter how hard Roxy tried to stay composed, she couldn’t stop her expression from hardening. Even her voice sharpened loudly against her will.
She had just signed the divorce papers with Ashton, and now, in the blink of an eye, he was moving in with her fiercest rival?
What the hell was this supposed to mean?
“Didn’t you hear me just now, Roxy? I’ll say it again. Starting tonight, Ashton lives with me. I’m sure you won’t mind, right?” Sylvia asked as she lifted her chin proudly.
Roxy bit down on her lip. “Is that true, Ashton?”
“It is.”
“I forbid it! You’re not allowed to move in with Sylvia!” Roxy declared out of reflex.
Even if she’d cast him aside, how could he move in with Sylvia, her mortal enemy?

Clicking her tongue, Sylvia chimed in, “You’re being awfully unreasonable, Roxy. Don’t forget that Ashton have signed your divorce papers. Since that’s the case, who are you to forbid him from staying wherever he
wants?”
In the darkness of the night, Sylvia looked sultry and alluring, while Roxy was stunning and imposing. The two gorgeous women glared daggers at each other, neither backing down.
Eventually, it was Roxy who looked away first. Not wanting to continue arguing with Sylvia, she questioned

Ashton instead, “Did you not hear what I said, Ashton? I forbid you from moving in with Sylvia.”
She couldn’t stand the thought of Sylvia gloating about this. In order to foil Sylvia’s plan, she deliberated for some time before saying, “If you really have nowhere else to go, you can stay with us for one more night.”
“Absolutely not!” Calvin cried out in agitation. “You’d just managed to kick him out after much difficulty, Roxy. How can you let him back in? What if he shamelessly refuses to leave after this? You can’t fall for his trick!”
Calvin looked furious. He didn’t even get to step foot into the Sloan residence yet, so how could he let Ashton steal his place again?
He’d long since considered Roxy his possession, so he wasn’t going to let Ashton get anywhere near her. What if the two rekindled their feelings for each other?
However, ignoring Calvin, Roxy continued grimly, “You can spend the night here. Tomorrow, I’ll find you an apartment. Don’t bother trying to provoke me on purpose. It’s extremely childish and pointless of you.”
She continued to stare at Ashton, acting as though she wasn’t going to let him refuse her arrangement. Sylvia said nothing. She knew that at a time like this, she had to let Ashton make his own choice.
“From the moment I walked out of the Sloan residence, it meant that I would never go back there. As for where I stay, that’s none of your business,” Ashton declared.
