Apart from Cadence’s reverence for Ashton, there was one other reason–a far more important one–for why he agreed to submit to Ashton.

He saw the unlimited potential in Ashton. Perhaps Ashton would be the one who could guide him in his martial path and enable him to grow even stronger!

If that were the case, it could very well be a good thing for him to submit to Ashton.

Besides that, with Ashton around, the Gale Assembly might not have to be pressured by the Sage anymore!

“Send some people to keep my daughter safe,” Ashton instructed. “If anything happens to her, I’ll hold you accountable for it!”

“Rest assured, Mr. Gray! I’ll make the arrangements right away,” Cadence declared, his attitude humble and servile.

When Ashton turned back around, he saw Cadence reluctantly retrieving a sparkling diamond from his pocket, saying, “This is The Lustra. It’s a one–of–a–kind diamond that can display a rainbow under intense light. It was the masterpiece of the most renowned expert jeweler, Keenan Manning.

“I hope you’ll accept it as a token of my respect.”

“No need.”

“You must accept it, Mr. Gray. I won’t be able to rest easy otherwise!” Cadence insisted.

“Fine then.”

After considering it for a moment, Ashton accepted The Lustra. He needed a gift to bring for Renee when he checked on her later anyway.

Ashton walked out of the Gale Assembly headquarters with Gene and Louie on his side.

Suddenly, he stopped and looked at Gene, asking, “Have you been stuck as a peak B–ranked expert for many years now?”

“That’s right… I guess I don’t have what it takes. I haven’t been able to reach a breakthrough and become an A- ranked expert!” Gene said wistfully.

Only an A–ranked expert was considered a true expert.

“I’ll help you become an A–ranked expert now,” Ashton said,

“Huh?”

Gene thought he’d misheard Ashton.

“Don’t move.”

Ashton placed a hand on Gene’s shoulder, and wisps of potent inner energy rushed into Gene’s body. Ashton’s eyes glinted as he forcibly opened up Gene’s meridians and removed the shackles that bound him.

Ashton waved them both off, signaling them not to follow him as he drove back to the Sloan residence himself. He wanted to check on Renee’s injuries and give her The Lustra.

Both Gene and Louie were filled with awe as they watched him leave. Before this, they’d never heard of someone who could help a B–ranked expert hit a breakthrough so easily!

Louie’s eyes were filled with envy. If he’d also stood by Ashton without any regard for his own life earlier, might he have also had a breakthrough now?

A single decision now led to endless regret.

“It’s fine. As long as Sally pleases Ashton and keeps him satisfied in bed, I’ll still have a shot…” Louie comforted himself.

He started considering how he should offer Sally to Ashton.

It was now late at night. When Ashton arrived at the Sloan residence, Robert stopped him from going any further. ” What are you doing here, Ashton? Haven’t you caused enough trouble for us? You’re not welcome here! Get lost!”

He’d been out having his fun at a nightclub when he heard what happened and rushed home. Since he’d been filled in on everything, it was no surprise that his attitude toward Ashton was far from pleasant now.

When Renee heard Ashton’s voice, she called out weakly, “Let Ashton in, Robert!”

Her own voice was visibly tinged with joy. He was the one she wanted to see the moment she regained

consciousness.

Raising a brow, Roxy said icily, “Let him in!”
