Ashton walked into the villa, taking in the familiar scene. It had only been a few days, yet everything had changed.

“Ashton, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”

Renee forced her weak body to sit up halfway, a sweet smile on her face.

Ashton checked her. When he was sure she was mostly fine, he looked at the red streak on her chest, saying guiltily, “Dummy. Does it still hurt?”

“Not at all,” Renee waved a fist at him. “Am I awesome or what?”

He said tenderly, ‘You’re the coolest.”

“Stop with the crocodile tears and fake sympathy! Renee would never even have gotten hurt if not for you!”

Tanya pointed at Ashton and snapped, “I swear I would never have let you off if Renee hadn’t turned out fine. People like you deserve to die so that you don’t drag our family down again!”

Ashton’s gaze cooled.

“Mom, don’t talk about Ashton like that,” Renee said anxiously.

“Fine, fine. Saying another word to someone like him is an insult to my status, anyway. You’ve seen how Renee is doing; you can leave now!” Tanya said unceremoniously.

She’d never thought much of Ashton, believing he’d married above his station with Roxy. It was laughable that he, a mere thug, had married Roxy, a CEO!

“Celia’s asleep. You can go if there’s nothing else.” Roxy’s voice was equally cold.

After what had happened that day, her disappointment in Ashton had peaked. She would think of every way to keep Celia away from such an irresponsible father. Otherwise, he would influence Celia and make her go down the wrong path!

Ashton didn’t want to stay any longer, anyway. He pulled The Lustra from his pocket and handed it to Renee. With a smile, he said, “Renee, this is a gift for you.”

“It’s beautiful! Thanks, Ashton.” Renee was delighted. She cradled The Lustra in both hands, her eyes bright with joy.

“Why does that look so much like The Lustra?” Robert asked in surprise.

Tanya’s curiosity was piqued. “What’s The Lustra? Is it expensive?”

“Of course! The Lustra is one of the world’s top ten jewels and is worth 50 million dollars. It’s so rare that even money can’t buy it–countless nobles and elites want it! It’s a true status symbol!” Robert said.

“50 million dollars?” Tanya’s eyes widened. Then, she snorted. “No wonder people look down on you, Ashton. Renee took a knife for you, yet your idea of a gift is some knockoff piece of junk. Roxy, you should’ve divorced this lowlife ages ago. Just seeing him makes me sick now!”

Roxy shot Ashton a look and shook her head. “Ashton, don’t give people fake stuff again. Integrity is the most basic virtue that a person should have. Renee, give the fake jewel back to Ashton.”

“No way!” Renee treated the diamond like a treasure and beamed. “As long as it’s from Ashton, I’ll love it, whether it’s real or fake. It doesn’t even matter what it is. I’ll love it all the same! Ashton, I’ll always have it on from now on!”

“Renee, what’s wrong with you? You’ll be humiliating our family by walking around with a fake jewel! Throw that piece of trash away!” Tanya snapped.

She eyed Ashton warily and screeched, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking, Ashton. You’ve set your sights on Renee now that Roxy has divorced you, haven’t you?”
