Chapter 142
Neil was shocked, He had been working alongside Lawrence for decades, and he had never witnessed him flying into such a rage before this.
Also, Lawrence had said that the Northern Troops were to wait for further instructions from Ashton. That was an authority that only the Legion’s deputy head possessed!
What exactly had Lawrence discussed with Ashton that night? Had Lawrence done more than just invite Ashton into the Legion?
Neil didn’t dare to speculate further. He only had to carry out Lawrence’s order for now.
“Yes, Mr. Clarkson Senior!”
Neil then quickly left after hanging up.
“Ms. Langley? Who was that guy just now?” Louie asked fearfully.
“I don’t know either,” Sylvia said. “Probably Ashton’s friend.”
Gene and Louie exchanged a look. That confirmed something in their heads. If Ashton had a friend like that, then nothing terrible would actually happen to him.
Ashton was imprisoned in a separate holding cell at the Southern Javonbury Precinct police station. He sat on the floor with his legs crossed and practiced the Cosmic Breathing Technique, slowly regulating his breathing before beginning to cultivate.
A middle–aged man approached Ashton with a metal bar in his hand and yelled at him, “Ashton Gray! This is a confession of all the crimes that you have committed! Sign it, now!”
Ashton glanced at the confession and burst out laughing. “Wow, you don’t even bother putting on an act anymore, hmm? Why are you in such a hurry to convict me? Scared?”
“I’m telling you, Ashton Gray, that you’re never getting out of this place now that you’re here! If you know what’s best for you, then you’d better sign it now, and you’ll probably be spared from physical torture. Otherwise-”
“Otherwise, you’re going to torture me or physically force me to sign the confession, right?” Ashton asked with a cold laugh.
“Glad that you know what’s coming for you. Just do your thing and save us both the drama!”
“Sorry, but I will not admit to anything that I have never done,” Ashton said.
“You’re asking for it!”
“More like you’re the one asking for it.”
“Take him down! Make him sign it!” the man screeched.
He waved his hand in the air and let in a few martial arts experts into the cell, all ready to force Ashton into signing the confession.
Ashton chuckled coldly. “This is really asking for it, now.”

Meanwhile, Conrad frowned deeply in his office as he angrily told Calvin off. “Look at what you’ve done! There’s a commotion in South Javonbury, and the leading enterprises that partnered with Evermore Group are also threatening to withdraw their investments!
“And the people from Noir Bar and the Holt Crew are also making a huge fuss, accusing the Southern Javonbury Precinct of disregard for human life!
“And now, the superiors are pressuring us for answers! What am I supposed to do now?”
Calvin was panicking. He never thought that Ashton held so much power in the city. He said, “Mr. Nell, what’s done is already done. There’s nothing we can do to save the situation anymore! Also, you’re the Chief of Police here in South Javonbury. Why are you even afraid of them?
“Once Ashton signs the confession and he’s convicted of those crimes, there’s absolutely nothing that they can do to us anyway!”
He continued twisting the facts. “Also, Mr. Nell, we now have a blood feud with Ashton. He’ll kill us if we don’t kill him first! You can’t give in to peer pressure now!”
“You don’t have to tell me that!” Conrad said, continuing in a low voice. “I’ve already gotten someone to make him sign the confession. Ashton dared to lay a finger on me, so I will make him pay the price!”
“That’s brilliant!” Calvin exclaimed.
Suddenly, someone began screaming Conrad’s name at the top of his lungs. “Chief Nell! Chief Nell! We have a massive problem, a really big one!”
An admin staff member, Kyle Hawkins, ran into the office, nearly stumbling over his own two feet. “T–The Northern Troops have surrounded us all!”
