Chapter 144
Conrad simply couldn’t bear the consequences if anything happened to Ashton!
At that moment, Gene, Louie, and Cadence—who’d just arrived at the Southern Javonbury Precinct after learning about the situation–stood rooted to their spots as soon as they saw the Northern Troops flag flying in the wind in
the dark.
They felt a huge terror in their hearts. They simply couldn’t understand why the infamous Northern Troops were here. Had they come for Ashton?
“That man who just got Conrad on his knees! Was he the man who came looking for Ashton just now?”
“That’s him!”
“Oh my God! He really is Ashton’s friend after all!”
“And such a powerful one too!”
At this point, Louie was even more determined than ever to associate himself with Ashton. He wished that he had a few more people like Sally at his disposal so that he could offer somebody different to him every single time!
Cadence Suther, the president of the Gale Assembly, was also shocked beyond belief.
Up until just a while ago, he had only been respectful toward Ashton purely based on Ashton’s cultivation realm.
But now, after seeing the ruthless Northern Troops–the very same troops who could wipe out the Gale Assembly in a flash–here for Ashton, Cadence was even more convinced and in awe of him.
He also thought he had to find a way to strengthen his relationship with Ashton.
A short while later, Sylvia also arrived at the scene while sweating profusely. She had tried everything in her power and asked every person she had connections with at the company to try to bail Ashton out, but it had been to no avail.
Roxy and Anna also arrived shortly after. Roxy simply wanted to know if Ashton was guilty of all the crimes he’d been accused of. But when they both saw the Northern Troops‘ flag flying high in the air, and sensed the tense, murderous aura in the air, they couldn’t help but shiver down their spine.
“Don’t worry about it, Ms. Langley. I believe that Mr. Gray will be released in a very short while,” Gene said.
“Really?” Sylvia asked, wiping away the cold sweat on her forehead.
After learning about Ashton’s current situation, she still said worriedly, “I’m going in to have a look for myself!” She then mustered up her courage and walked into the police station.
The Northern Troops stood at attention in their spots, ignoring Sylvia altogether. The command they had received from Neil was that people were still allowed in, but they weren’t allowed to leave afterward.
“We’re going in as well!” Roxy said, gritting her teeth as she looked at Anna.
Gene and Louie wanted to go in too, but since they dabbled in criminal activity, they were naturally fearful of the Northern Troops and didn’t dare get any closer.
When Kyle and Calvin entered the cell, they realized in shock that the martial arts experts sent in to force Ashton

to sign the confession were all defeated and lying on the ground while howling in pain. It was quite a painful sight.
“Ashton Gray! How dare you use violence against the law? That’s another crime added to your list! Even if you don’t confess to them, you’re still going to remain locked up for at least a decade!”
Calvin felt his chest rumbling with anger and hatred as soon as he caught sight of Ashton.
Meanwhile, Kyle picked up the confession document on the ground and saw that Ashton still hadn’t signed it.
He immediately frowned and said, “Why are you still pointlessly resisting like this? If you signed this document, it would be considered a confession. And you’ll get a lighter sentence when the judge convicts you of your crimes!
“Listen to me and just sign this paper, okay? It just makes things easier for both of us!”
“I did not commit any of those crimes. Why should I need to sign them?” Ashton asked, glancing briefly at Kyle and Calvin.
He then burst out laughing and asked, “Judging from how panicked both of you are acting, I’m guessing that something major has happened, right?”
“Ashton Gray! Don’t you dare think that you’re invincible and nobody can do anything to you! We have countless martial arts experts in the station! We have plenty of other ways to make you do this! We just don’t want things to get too ugly!” Kyle hollered, raising his hand.
Ten more experts arrived and walked into the cell, their eyes on Ashton as hostile looks crossed their faces.
Kyle’s job was to force Ashton into signing the confession. And he was prepared to use whatever ways possible to get it done!
“Try me,” Ashton said, shrugging nonchalantly.
“Take him down! Make him sign his name and stamp his thumbprint next to it as well!”
Kyle was determined to make this case as ironclad as possible.
“Attack!” Calvin shouted.
At once, all ten experts rushed toward Ashton at the same time. However, unsurprisingly, none of the experts managed to lay a finger on a single strand of Ashton’s hair, let alone force him to sign the document.
Moments later, another batch of experts was sent flying to the ground, where they lay howling in pain.
Kyle’s eyes narrowed. “Release the hypnotic gas!”
“Yes! Do that! Make him all dizzy and disoriented so he’ll admit to everything and sign the confession! Let’s see how much more aggressive he can get!” Calvin hollered.
“Wait, stop! Quick, stop this!”
