Kayla’s expression stiffened, and she felt her heart jump to her throat when she noticed that Ashton was trying to meet Clay’s most powerful strike head–on.
Ashton’s fingers shot through the air and, with pinpoint precision, grabbed the spear as it hurtled toward him. All at once, the two mighty forces clashed loudly, seemingly causing a rift in the atmosphere itself.
But soon, everything settled down.
Ashton had caught the force–laden spear right in his hand, and like a mouse in a trap, it couldn’t move at all. The light rapidly dimmed as the force the spear was made out of died out as well.
“How could this be…”
Clay’s face kept twitching.
No matter how hard he tried to keep pouring more of his inner energy into the spear, it couldn’t break out of Ashton’s iron grip. The divine ability he was proudest of failed to be of any threat to Ashton!
Just then, Ashton gave a quick squeeze, and the spear instantly turned to dust.
The torrential backlash struck Clay hard. After sputtering out a mouthful of blood, he stumbled backward, his breathing becoming extremely weak.
“Guess that’s all you’re capable of, so why were you that arrogant with me before, huh?” Ashton sneered as he slowly stepped toward Clay.
A crushing wave of bloodlust crashed onto Clay, making him feel utterly suffocated. His heart was slowly gripped with the fear of death.
“W–What are you doing!” Clay cried out as he kept retreating.
“Didn’t you want to break both my arms as well as get me to kneel and beg for mercy? Since that’s what you like, I’ll let you experience it yourself!”
Ashton’s eyes burned murderously, the Drakeborne lineage in his veins drawing up a thirst for blood.
“How dare you!”
Felix abruptly shot forward like a bolt of lightning, his murderous intent erupting as his palm shot toward Ashton’s head. With the inner energy concentrated in his palm, it was clear he wasn’t holding back at all. He was trying to kill Ashton.
Throughout the fight, he’d felt a strong sense of danger.
It was clear that Ashton was part of the Legion. He could very well be the one Lawrence had chosen to take his place. Otherwise, Lawrence wouldn’t have given him Kayla hand in marriage.
Initially, Felix didn’t think much of Ashton. But now, he considered Ashton a huge threat.
He couldn’t allow someone who could treat Lawrence and defeat Clay to carry on living!
“Kill him, Mr. Aguilar! Turn him into dust!” Clay roared, feeling a mix of fury and humiliation.
“Get a taste of the Soulcrusher!” Felix snarled.
Intent on killing Ashton, he showed no mercy at all.
He knew that if he killed Ashton, he could very well pay fort with his life, but he couldn’t hesitate at a time like
this.

Ashton had to die so that Lawrence would die, too. That was the only way to ensure the doom of the Legion and salvage Clay’s dignity after the loss he’d suffered! This was all for the glory of the Dominion Vanguard!
The imposing force of his attack sealed off Ashton’s escape. There was no way for Ashton to avoid the strike.
Ashton’s eyes narrowed. He sensed the threat coming from this attack, but the blood of the Drakeborne lineage was filling him up with a thirst for battle.
It’d been too long since he last had a proper fight with someone!
However, just as Ashton was about to throw himself into the fight, Lawrence’s icy voice rang out. “How dare you act so brazenly when you’re standing on the Legion’s territory, Felix? Don’t you think you’re showing too little respect for me?”
