On the third floor, Sylvia gently pushed open Melody’s bedroom door. She could faintly hear the sound of Melody crying.

“Melody, are you still mad at me?” Sylvia asked gently.

“I just don’t get it, Sylvia! Why do you insist on letting Ashton stay here? It’ll only hurt your reputation! I can tell that he has ulterior motives!

“And why would Roxy divorce him if he’s really so wonderful? Roxy has already proven that he’s not a good man, so why do you still have your heart set on him?

“You even hit me because of him…” Melody sobbed, feeling deeply hurt.

Her tears continued to fall.

“Stop crying, you silly goose,” Sylvia said as she stroked Melody’s head. “If Ashton hadn’t saved me back then, Melody, I would probably be in a brothel somewhere right now, forced to sell myself. Without him, I wouldn’t have everything that I have right now.”

“He saved you? Why have you never mentioned that before?” Melody asked cluelessly.

Sylvia didn’t carry on with that topic. Ashton’s identity was a rather sensitive subject. If the truth got out, it might cause issues for him.

“Trust me on this, Melody. Have I ever made the wrong judgment? Once you spend more time with Ashton, you’ll come to see that he’s an incredibly charismatic man–more than any guy you’ve ever met.”

“That’s impossible,” Melody protested with a pout. “Ashton seems completely average to me. Anyway, I don’t care. You deserve better, Sylvia. I forbid you from being with him. Even if he saved your life before, it doesn’t mean you have to offer yourself up to him!

“It’s not like you don’t know that Damian Payne, the most distinguished scion in Javonbury, is hopelessly in love with you, Sylvia. If you marry him, we’ll be able to firmly establish ourselves in the city. No one will dare to bully us again!”

Chuckling, Sylvia remarked, “I’d love to repay him by offering myself to him, but he doesn’t want it! But enough about that. Let’s not talk about this. Either way, he’s going to be staying here for now. Don’t make things difficult for him, okay?”

“But he’s a man. What if he starts getting ideas about me? You can’t judge a book by its cover, Sylvia.”

“He won’t.”

“But what if he does?”

“That would never happen.”

Melody puffed her cheeks angrily, but she knew she couldn’t change Sylvia’s mind. “Fine! But if I prove that Ashton is a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you have to kick him out!”

Even after Sylvia had left the room, Melody continued to fume. She couldn’t stand the thought of a man living downstairs.

For a moment, she considered telling Damian about it. But after mulling it over, she shook her head. “I just need to kick Ashton out of the house as soon as possible and pretend like none of this ever happened.‘

Her eyes flickered, and she soon formulated a plan. She decided to use herself as bait and try to seduce Ashton. Melody had absolute confidence in her own beauty. A little teasing, a little flirting, and Ashton would definitely take the bait. Surely she could get Sylvia to change her mind once he exposed his true nature as a sleazy pervert.

She wasn’t going to give Ashton the chance to put his dirty hands on Sylvia.

The next morning, Melody purposely went downstairs in a sultry silk nightgown. She made it a point to flaunt her voluptuous figure in front of Ashton.

Alas, he didn’t even spare her a glance.

“Hmph! I’ve decided to let you stay in the house, Ashton, but I’ll have my eye on you at all times. You’d better not get any ideas about Sylvia or me, or else, I’ll make you pay!”

Melody flexed her fists in front of Ashton before threatening, “I’m friends with some very powerful people. Any one of them can easily have you beaten to a pulp. I’m not as easily tricked as Sylvia, so you’d better watch your back!”

Ashton continued eating his breakfast. He couldn’t be bothered to even respond to Melody.

“Do I look pretty today, Ashton? Since I’m accompanying you to the courthouse later, I can’t let Roxy upstage me! “Sylvia came in dressed in a sky–blue floral dress. She looked positively breathtaking.

“You look stunning, Sylvia!” Melody exclaimed in awe.

Ashton glanced at Sylvia with an appreciative look in his eyes as well. He didn’t expect the young woman he’d saved by coincidence to become such a gorgeous woman.

“Keep staring, and I’ll gouge your eyeballs out!” Melody threatened before getting rather curious. “Hey, you. Why are you and Roxy getting a divorce?”
