Divorced and Dominant Now You Cry novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19

We have our differences, so we’re parting on good terms,Ashton replied.

You probably got dumped, didn’t you?Melody retorted with a smirk.

Roxy is a sophisticated CEO and one of the four most beautiful women in Javonbury, alongside my sister. It’s only natural she wouldn’t settle for you. In fact, I admire her for actually spending ten years married to you before finally divorcing you. That’s very decent of her already.

Melody! Eat your breakfast!Sophia barked as she shot Melody a warning look.

I’m just telling it like it is. In today’s society, people care a lot about making the right match between two people of equal status. If the class gap is too big, sooner or later, the marriage will break down in shambles. This is reality, Ashton.

Say one more word, Melody, and you can move out of here at once!

Oh, fine. I’ll stop.

Melody glanced at Ashton. She’d already come up with the plan to install security cameras in the house when Sylvia wasn’t around and try to seduce Ashton afterward. Just the thought of that was pretty thrilling for her.

Soon, Ashton and Sylvia left the house, only to see Calvin waiting outside the Sloan residence. He was dressed in a suit with his hair slicked back and looking rather smug.

Moments later, Roxy stepped out in a sleek black pencil skirt, still looking as gorgeous and sophisticated as ever.

The sound of rushed footsteps rang out, and Renee followed right behind. She wanted to make one final attempt to dissuade Roxy.

Please reconsider the divorce, Roxy! You’ve been married to Ashton for ten years now! Are you sure you don’t have any feelings for him at all? Look into your heart carefully! Don’t end up regretting this later. By then, it’ll be too late. There’s still time for you to mend things now!

Scowling, Calvin jogged up to them before saying, You look so beautiful, Roxy!

Roxy turned around just in time to see Ashton and Sylvia walking together.

Do you have all the necessary paperwork with you?Roxy questioned coldly.

Yes,Ashton replied.

Looking him in the eye, she said, Good. At least you’re still holding onto some of your dignity. I thought you’d beg me not to go through with the divorce.

You flatter yourself.

Frowning, Roxy snapped, Let’s get on with it! It’s time to put an end to this marriage that had been a mistake from the very start!

The four of them soon arrived at the courthouse.

Let’s go in.

Alright.

Chopter

Neither Ashton nor Roxy even looked at each other.

While waiting outside the courthouse, Calvin finally had the rare chance to be alone with Sylvia. He made the most of it by flashing a gentlemanly smile at her, saying, Roxy no longer cares about Ashton, Ms. Langley. There’s no point in pretending to be with him. Roxy doesn’t care about it in the slightest.

Glancing at Calvin, Sylvia remarked with a smile, Is that so?

Of course. Roxy’s heart belongs entirely to me. If you want to provoke her, Ms. Langley, you should choose the right man,he said as a subtle hint to her. He hoped that the alluring Sylvia would catch his meaning.

Calvin had no intention of being with Sylvia before securing Roxy, but it wouldn’t hurt to flirt with her a little. If things proceeded smoothly, they could even maintain a secret affair.

It wasn’t as though he hadn’t been involved with multiple women at the same time before. He was a master at juggling his love interests.

Sylvia sneered to herself. Being a woman who’d clawed her way to the top in the cold, merciless society, there was no way she couldn’t see right through Calvin’s sleazy intentions.

She simply couldn’t understand how Roxy could possibly fall for Calvin. Did being someone’s socalled first love have such a potent effect on a person’s intellect?

Calvin was clearly a piece of trash.

A thought came to her, and she decided to toy with Calvin. Fluttering her eyelashes, she asked, Are you saying that if I start going out with you, Mr. Emerson, I’ll be able to get under Roxy’s skin?

Calvin’s heart started pounding.
