Chapter 181
Roxy took another step back when she saw the ferocious look on Calvin’s face. Only then did she realize she didn’t know him at all. She said flatly, “I’m not ready to start a new relationship right now.”
Hearing that, Calvin flew into a shame–fueled rage. He was practically hysterical as he pointed at Ashton. “Is it because you still have feelings for him? Is it because you two are still tangled up and won’t cut ties? In what way am I inferior to him? Why would you reject me for him?”
“Calvin, calm down!” Roxy scowled. “My rejection of you has nothing to do with Ashton.”
“You’re lying! Don’t think I can’t tell when you won’t even let me touch your hand! What do you take me for?” Calvin bellowed.
He’d been utterly humiliated, and right in front of Ashton, too. He’d planned to show off in front of the latter after winning Roxy over, yet what had happened? He’d been shamed all over again!
Disappointment clouded Roxy’s face, and her voice turned cold. “Think whatever you want. If you believe I’m deceiving you, then we can cut off contact.”
With that, she turned to leave.
Feeling the chilliness in her attitude, Calvin snapped back to reality and jolted. He quickly stood in her path and cried in a panic, “Roxy, you know I didn’t mean it like that. I just love you too much! I know I got ahead of myself, and I’m sorry. Can you forgive me this once?”
He knew he’d lost control. In his anger and shame, he’d forgotten his real goal–to win Roxy over and take everything she and Summit Group had. If their relationship was severed that night, he would lose every chance he had!
A real man knew when to swallow his pride. No matter what, he had to smooth things over with Roxy first.
Upon seeing Calvin so flustered, Roxy was finally sure that her feelings for this man who had once stolen her heart had long since faded with the passage of time. She said evenly, “I know.”
“Does that mean you’ll forgive me? I know you’re not ready to jump into a new relationship; I can give you time. We can take it slow and build our feelings for each other!” Calvin put on a look of deep devotion again.
Just then, Sylvia laughed. The grating sound made Calvin turn back to glare at her and Ashton. He snapped, ‘ What are you laughing at?”

She smiled brightly with her arm hooked through Ashton’s. “Sorry. I don’t usually laugh at things like this, but I really couldn’t help it.”
She turned to Ashton. “I thought we’d wandered into a circus and watched a brilliant clown performance, you know!”
Calvin clenched his fists tightly, making his veins bulge.
Only then did Roxy notice Ashton and the others. When she saw Celia there too, her face hardened. “Ashton, why did you bring Celia here?”
“Roxy, I’m the one who brought her,” Renee said.

“Don’t make excuses for him! He’s trying to drive a wedge between me and Celia! How can you be so despicable, Ashton?” Roxy’s expression turned frosty
She was convinced Ashton wanted Celia to see her being proposed to so that Celia would think the divorce was all her fault. He wanted to make her believe Roxy wasn’t a good mother! How vicious of him!
“Think whatever you want,” Ashton said coolly. He wasn’t going to explain anything.
“Give Celia to me!”
Roxy reached out and took Celia from him, saying icily, “From now on, you’re not allowed to see Celia privately without my permission. I won’t let you lead her astray!”
Ashton didn’t stop her. He said indifferently, “There’s still less than a year to go. Per our agreement, I’ll be taking Celia away then. Cherish this last year you have with her.”
