Chapter 182
“I honestly don’t know where you get your confidence from, Ashton. There’s no way your assets will surpass mine in just a year!
“Forget that I own the entire Summit Group–just Summit Lounge alone has gotten back on track. It’s now on par with your Evermore Club! What makes you think you can take Celia away? Is your empty boasting enough for that?” Roxy snapped.
She was convinced Ashton was there that night just to laugh at her.
“Ms. Sloan, we’ve got a problem!”
Just then, Anna appeared, her heels clattering as she hurried over, clearly panicked.
“What is it?” Roxy felt her heart sink.
“Summit Lounge’s casino just lost 200 million in chips–our liquid cash can’t cover it! The gamblers are starting to riot. If we don’t fix this fast, things are going to blow up!” Anna said anxiously.
Roxy’s expression changed sharply. “What the hell happened? Didn’t we bring in experts to hold down the fort in the casino? How did this still happen?”
Anna shot Calvin a vicious glare. “Those so–called expert gamblers Calvin hired are useless. Even with surveillance, they couldn’t spot the cheating methods those card sharks were using.
“I’ve temporarily shut the casino down, but the moment we stopped, the gamblers flipped. Now, they’re causing a scene. At this rate, Summit Lounge can’t operate at all!”
Roxy looked at Calvin, her voice hard as she asked, “Is this the nonsense you’re giving me after I put you in charge of Summit Lounge? Don’t you owe me an explanation?”
“I…” Calvin muttered. “How was I supposed to know so many top–tier gamblers would show up? Maybe we can just spend some money to smooth it over.”
“You think this is something that can be covered up with a payoff? You fix one problem today, and another will show up tomorrow!” Anna seethed. “Back when Sunny and the others were around, nothing like this ever happened!”
An unpleasant look crept onto Roxy’s face.
Just then, Angela Davies, the accountant that Roxy had brought along, ran over. “Ms. Sloan, Summit Lounge is already running at a loss—it’s basically an empty shell! All the previous profits were siphoned off under the table!”
“What did you just say?” Roxy jolted.
“You asked me to audit the books earlier. I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t checked, and what I found shocked me!” Angela pointed at Calvin. “Mr. Emerson has been buying low–quality liquor at sky–high prices, and Summit Lounge’s daily marketing spend is astronomical, while revenue is pitiful.
“Right now, the place is drowning in debt. It’s impossible to keep operating. If we do, it’ll become a gaping hole that could drag the entire Summit Group down with it!”

“You” Roxy pointed at Calvin, her chest heaving with anger. “What else do you have to say for yourself, Calvin?”
He looked frantic, clearly not expecting the bomb at Summit Lounge to go off so soon. In his plan, he would win Roxy over first, then keep stringing her along while quietly transferring all of Summit Lounge’s assets out. Finally, he would toss out some excuse to sweep the matter under the rug.
“Roxy, I didn’t know, either. I just wanted to revive Summit Lounge, so I tried a lot of tactics. I didn’t think they wouldn’t work…” He hung his head, not daring to meet Roxy’s eyes.
Roxy’s face went pale. She never would have imagined the man she’d once placed on a pedestal would fall off in such an unsightly manner!
