Ashton’s declaration shook Roxy and the others to their core. How could Ashton be Christian’s mentor? That defied all common sense!

Ashton was barely 30 and a complete nobody in the medical field, whereas the white–haired Christian was a monumental figure in Casoria. Ashton lacked the credentials to teach Christian, even if he had been studying medicine since birth!

Calvin finally snapped. He had been subjected to a string of humiliations from Ashton, and now his face contorted as he shrieked, “Ashton is fraudulently claiming to be your mentor, Dr. Donahue! You shouldn’t have slapped me! You should have slapped Ashton instead!”

Christian swung his hand, delivering a second blow across Calvin’s cheek, and roared, “You imbecile! How dare you insult my mentor! His medical brilliance is so vast that I am simply not fit to breathe the same air as him, much less compare myself to his ability!”

He then turned and bowed deeply in respect to Ashton, his expression a mix of terror and awe. “I am but your most inadequate nominal mentee, and I am here to offer my fealty to you, Mr. Gray!”

Christian’s absolute submission sent a wave of shock through the crowd, their eyes widening in confusion. They thought that the spectacle was truly overwhelming and nonsensical.

How could Christian, an expert traditional medicine practitioner, be the nominal mentee of the utterly obscure Ashton?

It was, however, the undeniable truth, no matter how outlandish the reality appeared.

Robert’s forehead was beaded with cold sweat. He stood pointing at Ashton, utterly paralyzed and unable to speak for a long time. He, for the first time, regarded his former brother–in–law with genuine fear and

Tanya staggered backward several steps, her spirit plummeting. She felt her blood run cold as the smile that had been on her face moments ago had disappeared entirely.

If Ashton was truly Christian’s mentor, then Tanya’s agonizing stomach condition that had plagued her for years was back to being a death sentence–the momentary hope that had surfaced was tragically destroyed.

She was instantly overwhelmed by a panicky, choking horror at the prospect of the perpetual torment. She was also baffled as to how no one ever managed to stop Ashton.

“What on earth have you done, Calvin? How could you bring Ashton’s mentee to treat my stomach condition? Is this some kind of deliberate humiliation?” Tanya roared at Calvin, instantly withdrawing the favor she had just shown Calvin.

Calvin stammered, “I–I had no idea Ashton was Dr. Donahue’s mentor, Mrs. Sloan. I-”

“That’s enough! You’d better keep your distance from Roxy from now on, since she has no interest in a failure like you, Calvin!” Tanya roared, denying Calvin any semblance of dignity.

Upon hearing that, Christian’s gaze turned murderous. He exploded into fury yet again, pulling back his hand with the intent to deliver another blow to Calvin’s face.

Calvin, having anticipated the attack this time, hurriedly stepped back.

Christian trembled in fury and roared, “You insolent fool! How dare you insult Mr. Gray! I’m breaking all ties with the Emerson family from today onward! I will never, under any circumstance, provide consultation for anyone in your family again!”

“D–Dr. Donahue…” Calvin stammered, his composure instantly shattering.

Christian represented one of Emerson Group’s most indispensable contacts. He knew that if Frank were to find out about this, he would suffer unimaginable consequences.
