A mask of rage distorted Calvin’s features as he tightened his fists. “You treacherous woman! You’ll regret this! I swear I’ll make you mine one day, Roxy! I’ll ensure you endure the worst suffering imaginable and be left utterly ruined, Ashton!”

He covered his throbbing cheek and–finding the humiliation unbearable–beat a hasty, miserable retreat. He felt utterly defeated, but his determination to seek retribution against Ashton and Roxy became absolute.

In the meantime, Auric Night remained in progress.

Ashton, along with Sylvia, was engaged in easy, lighthearted conversation with titans of industry–including Cadence, the head of the Gale Assembly. They effortlessly secured several new contracts for Evermore Group during their discussions.

It was clear that Ashton and Sylvia were the undisputed center of attention at Auric Night, with guests clustering around them.

Roxy, on the other hand, suffered continuous rebuffs. Those she intended to meet in the business world, upon noticing her silver invitation, refused to entertain her, leaving her without a single opening to speak.

Robert complained bitterly, “How can these people be so judgmental, Roxy? What possible fault can they find with Summit Group?”

Roxy let out a sigh before replying, “You ought to know that networking is fundamentally based on heritage and established roots. Summit Group is still considered the upstart in Javonbury.

“Thus, while our current capabilities rival these established conglomerates, achieving genuine assimilation will be a protracted process.”

“What about Ashton-” Robert cut himself short after saying that.

Ashton’s name had practically become a forbidden word within the Sloan family at that moment, after all.

Roxy managed a strained smile, saying, “It’s going to be alright, as even without the networks and capital gained from Auric Night, Summit Group’s growth will continue to gather momentum, defying any obstacle!”

Robert hummed in assent, then turned to glare at Ashton. He then thought of a scheme, exclaiming, “I just found the perfect way to take our revenge on Ashton, Mom!”

“What is it?” Tanya asked, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Robert cast a look at Ashton, then at Sylvia, and grinned wickedly. “I recall that Damian Payne, the most distinguished scion in Javonbury, is obsessed with Sylvia and has publicly declared that she’d be the only woman he’d marry.

“If Mr. Payne were to catch wind of the fact that Sylvia and Ashton are acting so intimately with each other, there’s no way he’d let Ashton off!”

He became more excited as he continued, “Mr. Payne, being the most distinguished scion in Javonbury, has always been overbearing, so Ashton is absolutely doomed!”

Robert brushed aside Roxy’s objections, located Damian’s number in his contacts, and sent the incriminating photos of Ashton and Sylvia, along with their current location.

He then exclaimed with a smile, “I’ve already sent the photos to Mr. Payne, Mom. It won’t be long before Mr. Payne brings his men here. Ashton is going to pay a terrible, agonizing price this evening!”

Tanya let out a satisfied sigh, exclaiming, “That’s wonderful! You’ve done well, Robert! I’d love to see how long that good–for–nothing can keep acting cocky! You’d better not meddle in this, Roxy!”

Roxy slightly cocked her brow as she reflected on Ashton’s cruel dismissal. She decided that letting him experience a crushing defeat might not be a bad idea. Otherwise, with his disregardful and arrogant behavior, he was bound to stir up even greater trouble eventually.
