Roxy was experiencing her own tumultuous storm of emotions on the inside.

Thinking back now, she realized that things always turned out like this. Ashton would always manage to triumph in dangerous situations, resolving every mess that came her way. She simply never noticed it until now.

When she saw Sylvia standing firmly at Ashton’s side, her chest tightened even further. That faint regret kept rooting itself even more deeply inside her.

“Maybe Ashton has some kind of leverage against this legionnaire,” Roxy said grimly. “He definitely isn’t someone with that level of power!”

“That’d better be the case. Otherwise, it means divorcing Ashton was a huge loss for you!” Robert said, his back now covered in sweat.

Roxy fell silent. No one knew what she was thinking.

“You’re a legionnaire and an SS–ranked expert, but you choose to aid and abet the wicked and the corrupt! Take off your uniform and serve in the Northern Troops for three years.

“You can put your uniform back on once you’ve done enough to make up for your past wrongdoing!” Ashton commanded icily as he stared down at Timothy.

“Understood!”

Timothy reluctantly took off his uniform and held it out to Ashton, who took it before saying, “Leave!”

As if he’d been given a pardon, Timothy fled Gale Hotel with his men without even looking at Damian again. He’d repaid his debt to the Paynes.

“Timothy! How can you leave? You-”

Damian felt his heart sink. At the very next moment, he sensed a chilling wave of bloodlust coming from Ashton. He couldn’t stop himself from meeting Ashton’s dark, unreadable gaze. It made him feel like he’d met the devil himself.

The pressure that rolled off Ashton suffocated Damian. His eyes stung, and he couldn’t resist backing away, too scared to look Ashton in the eye.

Sweating profusely, he cried out, “W–What are you trying to do?”

He’d always strutted around Javonbury like a tyrant, using his social standing to bulldoze his way over everyone else, showing no regard for anyone. But now, he’d encountered someone even more domineering than him.

“You’ve used up all the time I gave you to summon your people, but alas, you don’t seem to have what it takes to get me to let you off the hook. Is that all the so–called most distinguished scion in Javonbury is capable of?” Ashton remarked as he took one step forward.

Just that single step was enough to frighten Chandler and everyone else standing beside Damian, who quickly stepped aside to make way for Ashton.

None of them dared to cross him now.

Damian’s face went pale as he clenched his jaw. But the moment Ashton tightened his grip ever so slightly, Damian’s eyes bulged. He couldn’t breathe. Feeling like he was only a step away from death, he choked out, “I- I’ll never do it again!”

Ashton narrowed his eyes, pondering how he should deal with Damian.

“Mr. Gray, please have mercy on Damian just this once as a favor to me,” Cadence quickly stepped forward and urged.

He didn’t want Ashton and the Paynes to become mortal enemies.
