Natalie smirked slyly. She was just trying to keep Ashton occupied with this and buy herself some time. All she had to do was find a way to treat the parasitic poison, and she could then take back her word.

She had no interest in becoming a man’s plaything, even if the man was Ashton.

“It’s tempting, indeed. Alright. I’ll accept that bet. Go on, then. Tell me who your friend Sheila picked. What will I need to do to prove that I’m more powerful than he is?” Ashton asked.

From the start, Ashton had known Natalie wouldn’t truly submit to him so easily. She would never willingly offer herself up to him if he didn’t make it clear to her just what he was capable of.

Since that was the case, he would see to it that she fully respected and even feared him.

“Have you heard of the Sage, Mr. York?” Natalie asked slowly.

Ashton’s eyes flashed darkly. Having been part of the criminal underworld once, he knew who the Sage was–the kingpin of the Javonbury criminal underworld who had ties on both sides of the law, making him extremely powerful.

Even the Holt Crew and the Gale Assembly were like ants before him. A single word from him was enough to make the entire criminal underworld in Javonbory quake.

Nodding, Ashton replied, “I have.”

Natalie smirked. “The man Sheila picked for herself is Edmund Vance, the youngest son of the Sage. As long as you’re more powerful than Edmund–and you get him to admit that he’s no better than you–then you win.

“You’ll become my master, and I’ll willingly wait on you myself. I’ll meet your every desire, giving you all the pleasures in life…”

Keeping a close eye on Ashton’s reaction, she continued, “Not only that, but if you win, Sheila will also be yours. She’s a very attractive woman, you know… However, before that happens, I won’t admit that you’re my master, but you will still have to treat me. What do you say?”

She was baiting him, and she was sure that someone as proud of himself as he was would take the bait. This would buy her enough time!

“Sure,” Ashton answered.

Exhaling in relief, she winked at him. “You’d have to work hard, then. I’ll be waiting for the day Edmund admits that he’s weaker than you!”

“Where’s Edmund and your friend? Let’s meet them and settle this at once,” Ashton said.

He knew what Natalie was trying to pull, but he didn’t care. It was just as well, because he could seize this chance to make a move against the Sage.

He was now the deputy head of the Legion, but he hadn’t made a significant accomplishment yet. Taking over the criminal underworld of Javonbury would be his first major feat.

“What did you say? Now?”

Natalie gaped, her expression shifting. “Are you unaware of how powerful Edmund is, Mr. York? He’s the Sage’s most beloved son! It’d be impossible for you to get him to admit that you’re better than him.

Ashton pulled Natalie into his arms, his hand caressing her back as he said confidently, “I’m perfectly aware of how powerful Edmund is. You’re the one who doesn’t know how powerful your master is. Why wait? Let’s just settle things today.”

“Are you serious?”

With a conflicted expression, Natalie warned, “I know you’re powerful enough even to take out an expert from the Grim Coven, but you need to know just how many people Edmund has. According to my knowledge, he has an SS–ranked expert–the most powerful supreme grandmaster!”
