Calvin repeatedly banged his forehead on the floor before Ahton, his entire being trembling in fright.

Roxy felt profound disappointment as she observed Calvin’s pitiful appearance. She couldn’t believe her first love was behaving in such a pathetic manner in front of Ashton. She suddenly recalled how foolish she had been to bring Calvin with her when she demanded a divorce from Ashton.

“You have to ask Ashton to spare me. I don’t want to die, Roky!” Calvin had relinquished any semblance of dignity.

He harbored no further malice toward Ashton after seeing Edmund’s gruesome end, only overwhelming, endless dread.

Roxy warned, “You ought to know that murder is a crime, Ashton! You’d better not make things worse for yourself! I have already called in Eunice from the Legion, and she’ll be here with reinforcements shortly! You should get out of here now. Otherwise, you’ll surely be prosecuted for Edmund’s death!”

Ashton spared a contemptuous glance for Roxy, then pressed his heel down onto Calvin’s head with a slight, grinding motion.

He said with a sneer, “You always think I’m the one at fault but look at the facts. You wouldn’t be here anymore if it weren’t for me, Roxy!”

Roxy’s expression instantly hardened. She hadn’t anticipated such flagrant disrespect from Ashton. She couldn’t help but wonder if she truly meant so little to him.

She glared at Ashton as rage surged through her, yelling, “You’d better release him this instant, Ashton. Otherwise, I’ll report you for murder! I won’t permit Celia to have a father who slaughters the innocents! If you’re that determined, then you’d have to kill me as well, Ashton”

“How could you say such a thing, Roxy!” Renee exclaimed.

She then turned to Ashton and, fearing that Ashton and Roxy’s relationship would suffer irreparable harm, explained hurriedly, “I hope you don’t hold it against Roxy Ashton. She’s merely overwhelmed with fright from the events today!”

Ashton fixed his gaze on Roxy for quite a while before a sinister smile spread across his face. “Is he truly innocent? Is his inevitable death unwarranted? I’m going to kill Calvin today, no matter what!”

Having said that, Ashton brought his foot down decisively, grinding Calvin’s head into the crack in the ground.

Calvin let out an agonizing scream, his body convulsing violently while pleading, “P–Please save me, Roxy! I swear this will never happen again! I only did it because I love you so much! I just want to live now; I have finally grasped the gravity of my wrongdoing!”

“Ashton!” Roxy bellowed.

She stepped forward and blocked Ashton’s path with an outstretched hand, intervening between him and Calvin. She asked gravely, “Can you just treat it as me begging you Ashton?”

Ashton replied indifferently, “I don’t want to, so scram!”

Roxy felt her heart sink with dread, feeling a surge of hatre for Ashton’s indifference. She warned solemnly, “If you follow through and kill Calvin, I swear I’ll never forgive you! You can also forget about getting back together with me in the future, Ashton!”

Ashton regarded Roxy with a look of pure disdain, as if she were utterly foolish. “I have no need for your forgiveness, nor am I interested in getting back together with you! You are grievously overestimating your importance, Roxy!”

Having said that, Ashton’s eyes flashed with a shadowy glint. His inner energy surged forth, manifesting as killing intent that brushed past Roxy and pierced directly into Calvin’s body.

Calvin’s breathing stopped after emitting several screams of agony. His gaze became vacant and distended, frozen in a grotesque final image of shock as life fled his body.

“Calvin!” Roxy screamed.

She spun around and saw that Calvin had completely stopped breathing. She heaved in anger, her eyes bloodshot as she glared at Ashton, yelling, “Y–You monster! You filthy murderer!”

Renee hurriedly explained, “Ashton was looking out for our safety, Roxy! They were trying to kill him, so Ashton’s reaction was entirely self–defense! Ashton did the right thing!”
