Renee held Roxy back, whose emotions were running desperately high.

Roxy’s eyes were bloodshot. She had never thought that Ashton was capable of such cold–blooded cruelty. She had pleaded for mercy, yet Ashton had utterly dismissed her appeal and proceeded to kill Calvin.

She gritted her teeth and bellowed, “I’ll never forgive you, Ashton! I despise you! I refuse to let Celia be raised by a father so quick to kill, as you’re unfit to be her father!”

In the meantime, Eunice and her team finally arrived at Orchid Pavilion Resort. She issued a command in a hushed tone, saying, “I need everyone to proceed with extreme caution, since intelligence suggests that a lethal energy pervades this area. Under no circumstances should you let your guard down.”

They slowly sneaked into the premises, moving with deliberate caution.

“I smell blood, Captain Clark!”

“There are traces of combat, and there are roughly a dozen corpses, Captain Clark!”

Eunice surveyed the carnage and quickly identified the victims–assassins of the Shadowed Nocturnals- sprawled lifelessly in the pools of their own blood.

“They were all annihilated–each death was instantaneous killed with just one strike.”

“It seems like someone got here before us!”

Eunice inspected the assassins‘ injuries, her expression hardening. “It seems like the person who attacked them is quite formidable–whose hand could have dealt these blows?”

She remained intensely vigilant, pressing onward with her team in tow.

It wasn’t long before Eunice heard Roxy’s intense questioning and distressed shrieks.

“Get moving!” Eunice commanded, fearing for Roxy’s safety.

Eunice and her team rushed into the room where Roxy was located, only to be stunned by the entire scene before them. Edmund and Calvin had been viciously slain, while Roxy and Ashton were engaged in a tense, furious face- off.

Eunice was stunned, never having anticipated Ashton to be on the scene first. She immediately deduced that Ashton was responsible for the carnage outside. She carried a long–standing, intense dislike for Ashton, seeing him as an egotistical male chauvinist who didn’t deserve Roxy.

“Are you alright, Roxy?” Eunice exclaimed as she rushed toward Roxy’s side.

She placed herself between Roxy and Ashton, regarding Ashton with palpable suspicion.

“You made it, Eunice! I’m fine!” Roxy exclaimed, letting out a sigh of relief as she spotted Eunice.

“What exactly happened here?” Eunice asked, her curiosity clearly piqued.

Roxy glared at Ashton, then pointed at him, roaring, “Ashton killed both Edmund and Calvin!”

Renee hurriedly explained, “I’d like to clarify what really happened, Captain Clark! Edmund and Calvin captured us and laid a deliberate ambush for Ashton. He came here to rescue us, and all of his actions were strictly in self- defense!”

Eunice swept her gaze over the chaotic scene, then turned sharply to Ashton. “Get him handcuffed and bring him in for questioning!”

Renee exclaimed urgently, “Ashton saved our lives, Captain Clark! How could you arrest him? Roxy and I would have been in grave danger if it weren’t for Ashton! He should be hailed as the hero here!”

Eunice furrowed her brow in response. “You think he’s the hero, huh? He’s clearly settling a personal score under a justifiable guise, so I’ll personally uncover the specifics of this incident!”

Eunice, who had long wished to humble Ashton’s arrogance, fixed him with a challenging glare before turning to Roxy and Renee, saying, “You should head back with Renee and get some rest first, Roxy. You’ll be notified once everything is investigated.”

She then turned to Ashton and ordered, “You’ll have to come with us!”

Eunice, however, was utterly blindsided when Ashton blatantly disregarded her and spun on his heel to leave the scene. He didn’t even afford her the slightest consideration. She grew even more furious at Ashton’s look of utter disregard.

“You’d better stop right there, Ashton!”

Having said that, Eunice moved in a flash, instantly blocking Ashton’s exit. “If you refuse to submit to questioning, then I’ll have to take you by force! I have just become an A–ranked expert and was looking for a chance to test my skills!”
