Ashton was clad entirely in black, the wind whipping his dark hair. Sylvia and Natalie, the two striking women, stood nestled close to his flanks, while Cadence, Louie, and the others fell one step behind. They were all surrounded by their most trusted experts, radiating a heavy, threatening presence.

There was an overwhelming sense of dread that descended, as violent and unrelenting as a squall.

Melody watched Ashton from inside the villa, her heart skipping a beat. She muttered in surprise, “His whole bearing has changed. He is strangely captivating right now.”

She instantly blushed as she recalled the scene of Ashton treating her roughly that day. She then felt her heartbeat quickening and a bittersweet longing emerging, making her instinctively cross and rub her legs.

“Is that really Ashton?” Robert asked, staring at Ashton, who now radiated sheer, arrogant dominance.

He couldn’t reconcile this dominant figure with the meek man he had known in the Sloan family. He thought that the man before him now was the very definition of a powerful, ruthless magnate.

Tanya, failing to notice the sudden tension in the air, pointed furiously at Ashton as she shouted to Frank and Yvonne. “That’s Ashton! He’s the one who killed your beloved son! He’s the one you should strike at if you want vengeance!

“You can’t rest assured that the Sloans will never cover for him! That good–for–nothing’s retribution has been long overdue!”

Michael pulled Tanya back. He was smart enough to recognize the gravity of the situation. He saw clearly that the people Ashton brought were highly formidable. Ashton’s coalition had already utterly subdued Frank and Yvonne’s aggressive momentum.

Roxy turned pale. She watched her former husband transform before her eyes, the image of the past vanishing. She realized she had never truly known this cold, dominating figure before her.

“Ashton!” Renee looked at Ashton with her eyes sparkling like starlight, her gaze clearly betraying her deep affection.

Ashton stopped directly in front of Frank and Yvonne as a paralyzing wave of pressure washed over them. He stated flatly, “I’m the one who killed Calvin. He deserved it–he brought it upon himself.”

“Why, you!”

Yvonne fixed a murderous glare on Ashton. She wanted desperately to scratch that insolent smirk off Ashton’s face, but Frank held her back with all his might.

Frank’s panic was absolute. He swept his eyes across Cadence, Louie, Natalie, and the others, and he shivered uncontrollably, cold sweat dotting his forehead–these were the most prominent figures in Javonbury, and they were all standing behind Ashton.

He knew that if Emerson Group were to challenge this coalition, it would be less a fight and more a suicide pact.

“Ashton is the one who killed Calvin, so our enmity can never be reconciled! If you show me this courtesy and refrain from meddling in my blood debt with Ashton, Emerson Group would be eternally grateful!” Frank gravely addressed the crowd while clenching his fists.

He didn’t believe Ashton could truly command these giants of Javonbury to fight for him–there must have been some arrangement. He thought that Emerson Group could negotiate terms with them, too, if that were really the

case.

Ashton smiled contemptuously and asked the crowd, “Is anyone here willing to grant Mr. Emerson this courtesy?”

“How dare you challenge Mr. Gray! You are now a sworn, deadly enemy of the Gale Assembly, Frank! I swear that from this moment, the Gale Assembly will wage absolute, unending war against Emerson Group!” Cadence roared.

“If you don’t obtain Mr. Gray’s pardon, the Holt Crew will make the Emersons‘ lives a living hell! You should prepare for your family’s destruction!” Louie bellowed.

He regarded Ashton with utmost reverence, since he had become an A–ranked expert under his tutelage.

“Evermore Group will permanently cease all collaboration with Emerson Group!” Sylvia chimed in.

“I, Natalie York, will ensure that Yorkshore Group brings Emerson Group’s finances to ruin!” Natalie declared.

“You disrespected Mr. Gray, so the Medical Alliance will permanently blacklist every single member of Emerson Group!” Christian added.

“I may not be skilled in much else, but I, Gene Larson, can damn sure make the Emersons pay in pain! You’d all better start looking over your shoulders every time you step outside!” Gene threatened.

Each threat landed like a crushing blow, the impact rattling Frank and Yvonne’s very souls.

Frank turned deathly pale. He might have been able to resist one enemy, but this six–faction coalition was insurmountable. He knew that if Emerson Group became enemies of all six great factions, they would be wiped out completely, unable to hold on for even three days.

He couldn’t help but wonder just what that treacherous Calvin had done to incur their wrath.

“H–How can you protect a murderer like Ashton? What kind of deal did Ashton strike? Emerson Group will pay twice whatever he promised!” Yvonne bellowed.
