From the first moment Ashton laid eyes on Flint, he knew Flint was going to be an incredibly formidable opponent. That only made him want to go up against Flint all the more.
He wanted to take Flint’s place and become the new ruler of Javonbury’s criminal underworld.
Since the divorce, Ashton’s ambition had grown tremendously. He wanted to rise to the top of the world and look down on everyone from above.
Kayla pursed her lips. “Ashton, don’t get too cocky! The Sage has remained in power for decades. He won’t be taken down so easily. We must proceed with care.”
“Proceed with care? That’s not my style. Just do as I say,” Ashton said confidently.
Kayla studied him closely. She was about to continue protesting when he smacked her on the butt, saying, “If you don’t follow my orders, you’ll be sleeping with me tonight.”
“Why, you…”
She glared at Ashton in fury. This man kept getting bolder each time!
But she couldn’t blame anyone for this, not when she’d lost the bet.
Kayla didn’t dare say anything else. There was nothing Ashton wouldn’t do, and she wasn’t ready to sleep with him yet.
Over at Grandcrest Estate, the wind howled, adding a somberness to the air.
Flint drank cup after cup of strong tea, his expression steadily darkening. “Any news yet, Irina?”
Irina shook her head. “You don’t need to worry too much about it, sir. No matter how good a fighter Ashton is, he won’t be able to make it out alive this time. It won’t be long before Burt comes back with a defeated Ashton.”
Time continued ticking by. The only sounds that could be heard were Flint’s and Irina’s breathing.
Suddenly, a panicked voice rang out. “I have terrible news, sir!”
Both Flint and Irina felt a chill run through them. The voice belonged to one of the men they’d sent to form a barricade around the villa Ashton was at.
A middle–aged martial arts expert rushed over, drenched in sweat, His eyes were wide with terror, and his body was trembling uncontrollably.
“What’s going on? Where’s Burt?” Flint questioned grimly as he slammed his cup down onto the table.
The man’s eyes filled with even more terror as he said shakily, “H–He’s dead, sir. They’re all dead, including Burt! Ashton killed them all! Not a single one was spared. Their blood was spilled all over the place…”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Irina snapped with a frown. “It hasn’t been that long since they went over there! No matter how powerful Ashton is, there’s no way he could’ve killed Burt and the others in such a short amount of time. You’d better watch what you say!”
“It’s true! We saw it with our own eyes, sir! We wouldn’t have believed it if we hadn’t…”
The man shuddered as he continued, “It was a deadly array. Ashton set one up, and everyone who entered it

couldn’t escape from it alive. Ashton killed Burt himself. Burt didn’t even have a chance to fight back…”
He recounted everything he had witnessed in painstaking detail.
For a moment, the air became suffocatingly still.
Soon, more and more people came back to report what they’d seen, confirming that Burth and the 100 death squad assassins had all died a tragic death.
“Ashton Gray!”
Flint grabbed his cup and threw it down on the ground, his expression murderous. His heart ached at the news.
He’d gone to painstaking lengths to groom Burt into becoming a transcendent realm expert, along with the 100 death squad assassins. They were all worth a fortune, but now, they were all dead.
