Kenneth’s brows furrowed deeply. He was visibly angered. He’d given Ashton more than enough courtesy, but Ashton just didn’t know when to stop.
Did Ashton really think he was a pushover?
After checking his condition again and confirming that the malevolent energy’s effect on him was now almost negligible, Kenneth said coldly, “I’m grateful you saved my life, Dr. Gray, but ownership of Beldon Group’s shares is a family matter. You need not concern yourself with it. You may ask for something else instead.”
He was essentially breaking the promise he’d made to Ashton earlier.
Jane and Bradley were thrilled. They knew Kenneth would be far too reluctant to hand over control of the company. Sooner or later, the company would belong to them, and they’d be kicking Sheila to the curb!
“A family matter, you say?” Ashton repeated with an amused sneer. “Sheila’s my woman, so it’s only natural for me to get involved. Since this is your attitude, Mr. Beldon, don’t blame me for not showing any courtesy either.”
“My, my. How arrogant you sound. What can you do about it, huh? Don’t think you can walk all over us just because we’re being nice!” Bradley snapped at Ashton.
Just the sight of Ashton got on Bradley’s nerves.
Putting her arms around Kenneth, Jane said with a sly smile, “Hurry up and chase him out of the house, honey. He’s so scary. I’m afraid he’ll do something to hurt you if he sticks around any longer!”
Kenneth nodded before saying nonchalantly, “I’m very grateful that you saved my life today, Dr. Gray. I’ll be sure to repay you in the future, but I won’t be keeping you now.”
“Dad! How could you do this…”
Sheila was thunderstruck, her heart turning cold. She never thought Kenneth would be such an ungrateful man. Ashton had saved his life!
“See this? This is what a human is capable of,” Ashton said.
He wiped her tears off her face before taking a step forward, his voice booming as he declared, “You don’t need to tell me to leave, Mr. Beldon. I’ll walk out of here, alright. It’s beneath me to even be here in this house. However…”
His gaze turned cold as he continued, “You need to get one thing straight. Since I can save your life, I can take it, too. Your life has been in my hands this whole time.”
“What did you say?” Kenneth growled.
His heart sank. He got a bad feeling about this.
“Since you broke your promise, I’ll take back my decision to save your life. You should continue to suffer from the torment of the malevolent energy,” Ashton declared with a scoff.
His eyes gleamed darkly as he snapped his fingers.
All of a sudden, the malevolent energy that had vanished reappeared on Kenneth’s body, completely shrouding him again.
“What did you… What’s going on? Didn’t you remove the malevolent energy from me?”
Kenneth’s face went pale. He frantically mobilized his inner energy to suppress the rampaging malevolent energy

tearing through his organs, to no avail.
He howled in pain, feeling as though needles were stabbing him in the eyes, which soon turned bloodshot. As he trembled violently, he pointed at Ashton, demanding, “W–What did you do?”
