As the deputy head of the Legion, Ashton’s identity had to remain hidden for now. Because of that, he had no intention of showing his actual appearance.
There was another reason, of course. He preferred to operate under the codename “Grim Reaper” when he carried out his slaughters. That way, he could be utterly unrestrained. He could let his hostile energy run wild and go all out, testing his divine abilities and killing techniques.
“Who are you?” The leader of the six assassins felt a chill spike through his heart as fear shot straight to his head.
In the instant his eyes met Ashton’s, he felt like he had fallen into purgatory and was staring directly at Death. That terrifying killing intent made even these seasoned assassins tremble.
Eunice stared at Ashton’s back. A strange sense of familiarity rose within her.
“Who am I?” Ashton chuckled.
He stopped suppressing his killing intent and pulled out his Legion’s sigil, saying, “You can call me the Grim Reaper. I’m the newly appointed deputy head of the Legion. Now that you know who’s sending you to hell, it’s time to die!”
Grim Reaper, the deputy head of the Legion?
The assassins‘ gaze sharpened at that. They’d heard rumors that the Legion had just appointed a new deputy head, but the man’s file was shrouded in secrecy. They couldn’t find a single piece of concrete intel. Who would’ve known they’d run into him that night?
“Kill him!”
Menace glinted in the eyes of the Assassin Guild’s five elite fighters. Between them and the Legion, there was never room for compromise. If the two forces ever bumped into each other, only the victor would emerge alive.
In a flash, the five assassins cranked their blood and power to the limit without hesitation. Their faces turned vicious, and they unleashed their strongest strikes.
From the moment Ashton appeared, they felt the pressure of someone who stood above others. They had no choice but to stake their lives on this attack.
“Careful! Dodge them!” Eunice cried.
Her clothes were in disarray, and half her body was soaked in blood. Terror flickered across her face.
She’d crossed blades with the assassins and knew how vicious and devious their moves were. One slip would lead to eternal damnation.
Now, with all five launching their ultimate strikes at once, even a deputy head of the Legion, no matter how strong, couldn’t possibly block the assault and come out unscathed.
However, Ashton didn’t even budge. He swept a disdainful look over the five assassins rushing him. In his eyes, clusters of flame flared wildly. When he spoke, his voice sounded like it rose from the underworld. “Sovereign Flame!”

Chapter 333
+25 Borus
In an instant, clusters of black fire that looked like they could never be extinguished descended upon the five elite killers, wrapping them in a shroud of dark flames.
Five howls of agony shredded the darkness of the night.
The black flames crushed the assassins completely, stripping them of control over their own bodies. They plunged from midair and thrashed with all they had. However, the more they struggled, the more the ravenous flames raged.
Within a few breaths, the five assassins were burned to ash. A sharp gust swept by, scattering their ashes into the night, leaving only a faint tang of blood drifting on the wind.
“Too weak.” Ashton shook his head, feeling disappointed. He’d barely let his hostile energy seep out, and he hadn’t even gotten close to satisfied.
If he wanted to keep getting stronger and to grasp the true essence of martial arts, he had to grow through duels and slaughtering. Otherwise, no matter how high the realm he ascended to, it would only be a house of cards. Beside him, Eunice’s jaw dropped. She stared up at his tall, unyielding figure and felt the dominance and power radiating from him. Her admiration for him surged like wildfire.
