Ever since Renee learned of Celia’s kidnapping, she’d been beside herself with anxiety. How was she supposed to face Ashton if something bad happened to Celia?

Therefore, at a time like this, Roxy’s strong objection didn’t matter. Renee was still determined to inform Ashton as soon as possible. She trusted him the most.

“Where are you guys? I’m coming over right now!”

Ashton’s heart shot into his throat. He turned to Sylvia and requested, “Lend me your car.”

Without hesitation, Sylvia handed over the keys to her Lamborghini. Worried, she asked, “What’s going on, Ashton?”

It was the first time she had ever seen him look so grim. In her memory, he was always unshakable, as steady as a rock. Not even his divorce from Roxy had rattled him.

After glancing at Irene, Ashton shook his head and said, “It’s nothing. Please look after my mom for me. I’ll be right back.”

“Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of Madam Lowe. And if you need anything, I’ll be here. Let me know, and I’ll mobilize all of Evermore Group’s manpower and resources for you,” Sylvia said warmly.

Ashton gave Sylvia a grateful look before darting off as quickly as possible. He jumped into the driver’s seat of the car and slammed on the accelerator before getting back on the call with Renee.

“Renee, tell me clearly what happened.”

“Celia slipped out of the house when we weren’t paying attention. The security footage shows she was heading to Paramount Hospital to look for you and Madam Lowe. But on the way, she was taken…

“Legionnaires from the Legion said it was the work of the Wraiths, some terrifying criminal organization…” Renee explained in as much detail as possible, adding that the Legion had already stepped in.

“This means Celia’s been missing for almost three hours. Why am I only hearing this now?” Ashton questioned, doing his best to rein in his fury.

He knew about the Wraiths, a criminal organization that focused on kidnapping children and trafficking them to shady factions. The Wraiths consisted of cruel and depraved human beings who acted without a shred of conscience.

However, never did he expect that their people had already made their way into Javonbury–and even kidnapped Celia, his daughter!

Was this just an unfortunate coincidence, or was it a deliberate move with him as the ultimate target?

He didn’t have enough information yet. He needed to see the footage with his own eyes before he could judge the situation properly. Furthermore, the fact that the Legion had gotten involved made things even more complicated.

Meanwhile, Renee fell silent at his question. She didn’t know what answer to give him.

“It was Roxy who stopped you from telling me, wasn’t it? She thinks she can handle everything, with white meager power she has.”

“Ashton, Roxy was only afraid you’d worry–”

“I’ve arrived.”

After parking the car, Ashton rushed straight to where Renee had said they were,

Inside the police station, Harry was still trying to reassure Roxy, “You don’t need to be too worried about this, Ms. Sloan. Justice will always be served eventually. The criminals will certainly get arrested!”

“That’s right, Roxy. We just need to wait to hear the good news from them,” Calvin consoled her.

“Captain Morrison, Captain Clark, is there still no word on Celia’s whereabouts?” Rozy asked, repeating the question every few minutes.

Hector and Eunice could only shake their heads each time.

“Huh?”

All of a sudden, Hector stiffened as he felt a gust of air rushing past. The door had been shoved open, and Ashton

rushed in.

The moment Roxy saw him, her brows drew tight. She shot Renee a reproachful glare before asking him coldly,” What are you doing here? Don’t come over and cause even more trouble at a time like this!”

“Exactly! We’ve already taken care of everything!” Calvin quickly added.

The crisp sound of a slap rang out.

Before anyone could react, Ashton had slapped Roxy across the face, the sound echoing in the room.

Everyone froze in shock. Even Rence was gaping.

Throughout their ten years of marriage, Ashton had always been extremely gentle with Roxy. He had never once raised his voice to her, let alone raised a hand. He had always cherished her, his precious wife.

But now, he’d just hit her.

“Did you just slap me?”

Eyes red and wide with disbelief, Roxy clutched her burning cheek as she stared at Ashton. She had never seen him like this before. Never had she ever imagined that he would slap her in front of everyone.

“Ashton! Have you lost your mind? Do you even know what you’re doing? Are you even a man, hitting a woman like that?” Calvin shouted, though he didn’t dare step forward.
