“Ms. Sloan, the members of the Wraiths are all ruthless killers. There’s no point in bringing you along, and we can’t spare the manpower to ensure your safety either!

“I swear on our code of honor as the Legion that we’ll do everything in our power to save every kidnapped child and return them safely to their families!”

Once Hector finished speaking, he swiftly left with the rest of the squad, not wanting to waste even another second.

Roxy bit her lip as she watched them leave. Then, she picked up her car keys, her eyes filled with grim resolve.

“What are you doing, Roxy? Didn’t you hear what Captain Morrison said? The Wraiths are made up of the worst kind of criminals. They’re murderers! Let’s just wait here to hear back from them, alright?” Calvin urged as he quickly tried to stop her.

After all, wouldn’t his plan to seize the Sloan family fortune go up in smoke if something were to happen to Roxy?

“I’m too worried about Celia. I have to go after them and keep an eye on things myself!”

“Roxy-”

“Move!” Roxy demanded firmly.

Gritting his teeth, Calvin said, “Fine, but I’m coming with you! I’m determined to protect you. If we run into any danger, I’ll definitely stand in front of you and shield you!”

Although he was cursing up a storm on the inside, he had no other choice but to act like a brave and responsible man. Otherwise, what would Roxy think of him if he didn’t?

“Thank you, Calvin.”

The two of them left, secretly tailing behind Hector’s convoy as they sped to the East Port.

In the dark of the night, the faint gleam from the moon could barely be seen, but the East Port was ablaze with lights.

“Have all the goods been loaded yet?” Dex Olson, a scar–faced man, asked gruffly with a cigarette dangling from his lips.

“We’ve got over 20 in total, Dex, and each one of them is of the finest quality. One little kid is especially pretty. I’m sure she’ll fetch a handsome price!” Tucker Davis, his second–in–command, replied.

“Is it the one we got today?”

“That’s right. It’s been over a decade since I got involved in his line of work, but it’s still my first time seeing such an exquisite kid!” Tucker remarked.

“Good job. Once we complete this sale, we’ll take a year off The Legion here in Casoria has been watching too closely. We need to stay low for a while,” Dex said.

“It’s almost time for us to set sail. Once we hit international waters, we can make the trade.”

Nodding, Dex lowered his voice and asked, “Is the high master being kept comfortable?”

“What do you have to worry about when I’m on the job, Dex I’ve arranged a few gorgeous chicks for him, along with a fat payout!” Tucker replied before asking a question “But Dex, why do we need to keep this high master happy?

“You and I are both B–ranked experts. Even if the entire police squad came after us, they won’t be able to take us down.”

“It’s better to be safe than sorry. The high master is an A–ranked expert and a member of the Obsidian Council. I feel better knowing he’s around to ensure our safety. For some reason, my right eyelid keeps twitching,” Dex said. “You’re just being too cautious, Dex. We, the Wraiths, have been able to stay alive for this long without ever suffering any setbacks! How can anything happen to us here in Javonbury?” Tucker boasted.

Dex blew a smoke ring before warning, “Caution keeps us alive, Tucker. Anyway, tell our men to get to their posts. Let’s get ready to set sail.”

Inside the ship’s hold, the five–year–old Celia sat bound and gagged alongside a group of other children who were crying in fear.

While Celia’s eyes were wide, she didn’t cry. She was mumbling through the rag in her mouth, saying something to a young girl beside her. Basically, she was saying that Ashton was a great hero who’d come to save her.

Ashton and Hector’s group arrived at the East Port at almost the same time.

A sweep

of the area with his senses enabled Ashton to pick up on the presence of Hector and the others first. After a brief pause, he concealed himself.

Once the fight broke out between Hector’s group and the Wraiths, Ashton planned on sneaking onboard The Horizon and rescuing Celia.

“Our undercover operative confirmed that Dex Olsen, the leader of the Wraiths, is a peak B–ranked expert. Another member named Tucker Davis is also a B–ranked, while the rest are mostly C–ranked and below. There should be around 20 of them in total,” Hector informed the squad.
