Chapter 43

Hector and his squad were already in position, lying low as they watched the cruise ship, The Horizon. In a hushed. tone, he gave out the orders.

“According to the intel we received, we’ve got a slight edge in this operation. When I give the signal later, you guys are going to surround them from all four directions. Your top priority is to rescue the kidnapped children. Eunice and I will personally take on Dex and Tucker.

“Cut off the head, and the body will die. As long as we take out the two leaders of the Wraiths, our mission will be a success!”

“Understood, Captain Morrison!” Harry said as he and the rest of the police officers nodded.

They swiftly steeled themselves and pulled out their sidearms, getting ready for combat.

Just then, the horn of The Horizon blared.

“There’s no time to waste. Move out!” Hector gave the order.

Immediately, he and Eunice jumped into action, moving the quickest. Harry and the others split into four directions and launched an attack on The Horizon as well.

“Who the hell are you people—”

As the gunshots rang out, Harry bellowed, “You’re all surrounded! Surrender, and you won’t be shot. Anyone who tries to resist will be executed on the spot!”

“It’s the police!” someone shouted.

Instantly, chaos descended upon The Horizon. Not a single member of the Wraiths chose to surrender. Instead, they fought to the death to resist arrest.

“We’ve got trouble, Dex!” Tucker reported as he came running in, his expression grave. “The police are here, and they have legionnaires with them!”

“Who’s the leader?” Dex questioned, his brows tightly knitted. He swiftly made his way to the cabin where Erasmus Unger, the high master they’d hired, resided.

Sticking closely to Dex, Tucker reported, “It looks like Hector Morrison. He’s been on our tail for ages now.”

“Hector Morrison, huh?” Dex scoffed. “It’s an old friend, then. In that case, kill them all. Don’t spare a single life. Once this is all over, we’ll flee abroad, never returning to Casoria again. That way, even if the Legion wants revenge, they won’t be able to find us.”

Bullets shredded the air, raining toward Dex and Tucker. But somehow, they seemed to anticipate the trajectories, swerving out of harm’s way every time.

Any martial arts fighter who was a C–ranked expert or higher had heightened senses. When dealing with them, conventional firearms were little more than fireworks.

“Dex! Tucker! You guys won’t be escaping this time!”

Hector and Eunice swooped in, locking onto their targets–Dex and Tucker.

“Kill them!”

Without wasting any words, Dex and Tucker entered into a fierce clash with the two legionnaires. It looked like an even battle on both sides, but Hector and Eunice seemed to have a slight advantage.

Roxy and Calvin watched as the gunfight erupted.

“Let’s not go any closer, Roxy. We should find a place to hide!”

Calvin’s whole body was trembling uncontrollably. He was enuinely terrified! When had he ever seen carnage like that before?

Roxy was just as scared, her body shaking as well, but her gaze remained steadfast. “I can’t do that. I have to rescue Celia. I think I can hear her crying.”

“It’s far too dangerous!”

“No matter how dangerous it is, I’m going in anyway! The ship is already setting sail. If I wait any longer, it’ll be too late!”

Roxy shrugged Calvin off her and crept toward The Horizon

“That bitch…” Calvin cursed under his breath.

Still, he was too scared to go after her. His life mattered more. He planned on hiding out on the dock. Once everything was over, he’d come forward and say a few nice things to comfort Roxy.

When Roxy realized Calvin wasn’t coming with her, her eyes flashed with disappointment. She couldn’t help but think of Ashton. Whenever she was in any danger, without fail, he was always the first to step forward.

Only now did it hit her that he was no longer by her side.

Without dwelling on that any further, Roxy continued making her way forward.
