Chapter 44

Taking advantage of the chaos, Roxy slipped into the ship and followed the muffled cries of children. Her heartbeat pounded faster and faster with every step.

But before she could get any deeper into the ship, several members of the Wraiths who were guarding the cabin spotted her.

“Where are you heading to, gorgeous?”

Just as Roxy was about to step into the center of the ship, Buck Rodgers, a menacing man with thin lips, blocked her path. His eyes roamed greedily over her body, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed.

“Damn! You sure are a hottie.”

Terrified by Buck’s perverted expression, Roxy turned pale and spun on her heel to escape–only to realize it was too late. Two men stood behind her, cutting off her escape route.

“The police and the legionnaires have already surrounded this ship! If you surrender now, you might get a lighter sentence!” Roxy cried out in a trembling voice.

The men’s raucous laughter filled the narrow corridor.

“Hey, heard that, Howie? This gorgeous chick here is telling us to surrender ourselves! Doesn’t she know that we’ve committed crimes that are punishable with the death sentence?”

Chuckling, Howie Wheeler remarked, “Sweetheart, in our line of work, it’s all or nothing. Either we live like kings, or we die. There’s no such thing as surrender!”

“What should we do with this chick, Buck?”

“Subdue her first. We’ll let Dex deal with her later. I wonder how things are going outside.”

“There’s nothing to worry about. Don’t forget about the high master we have on board the ship with us. The police won’t be able to get their hands on us!”

“You’re right. Hey, babe, are you going to surrender quietly or do we have to get rough with you?” Buck asked.

As the men cackled in a lewd manner, Roxy’s heart sank even further. Biting her lip, she said, “I’m the CEO of Summit Group. You’re doing this for money, aren’t you? How much do you want? I can give as much money as you want to you. All I ask is that you release my daughter and me!”

“Your daughter? Oh, so you’re a mother who’s here to rescue her daughter, huh? What a young and hot mother you are.”

“Well, damn! You’ve kept yourself in such good shape!”

“That’s enough. Now’s not the time to succumb to lust. Knock her out and tie her up. We’ll toss her into a cabin and wait for Dex to deal with her later!” Buck instructed.

“I hope he takes into account our contributions and lets us have a chance to have some fun with a babe like her. Even if I ended up dying in bed with her, I’d die a happy ma!”

Roxy’s face went pale with terror. With every ounce of strength she had left, she screamed, “Calvin, save me!”

With a heavy thud, she was struck on the shoulder and knocked unconscious.

“Tie her up and toss her into a cabin.”

“Got it!” Howie replied.

Calvin, Hector, and Eunice had heard Roxy’s desperate cry for help. Their expressions all changed.

Back on the dock, Calvin shrank backward and buried himself even deeper in hiding. Considering the situation, there was no way in hell he’d risk his life to save Roxy. If anything happened to that dumb Roxy, she had no one but herself to blame.

“Roxy followed us!” Eunice exclaimed, her expression turning grave. She was still locked in a ferocious fight with Tucker.

“Stay focused! We need to finish them off first!” Hector commanded.

He sped up his attacks, hoping to end the fight as soon as possible. He already had the upper hand over Dex. If everything went according to plan, their mission that night was going to be a success.

Meanwhile, Dex was forced to retreat as he fought. He felt stricken, knowing he’d underestimated Hector.

“High master, please step forward to save me!” Dex shouted!

A high master?

Hector’s expression hardened at once.

Not everyone could be called a high master. In a criminal organization like the Obsidian Council, only A–ranked experts were considered high masters.
