Chapter 465
“Do you feel chills right now, like there’s some kind of cold energy moving through your lower abdomen? Does it make you feel as though you’re standing in the middle of a snowstorm? Your period is probably about six days late already, right?” Ashton abruptly spoke up.
Samantha, who had just reached the doorway, froze in her tracks, suspicion crossing her face as she turned to him. “Martha, how could you tell him about something like that?”
“I didn’t!” Martha shook her head frantically. “I didn’t say a word, Sammy! Ashton just figured it out himself. I told
you that he’s an incredible doctor! Just sit down and let him take a look. He can definitely help you with your condition!”
Samantha continued to eye Ashton doubtfully. “Go on, then. Tell me how you figured out about the chills I feel in my lower abdomen and how you know my period is late.”
“I figured it out just by looking at your face,” Ashton coolly replied.
Raising her brows, Samantha asked, “Can you treat this condition?”
“I can,” he replied with confidence.
Samantha quivered slightly. “Well, you can give it a try then!”
Though she didn’t fully believe Ashton could do it, the cold gnawing at her body had become unbearable. She was willing to trust him this once.
“Why should I treat you? Are we friends?” Ashton remarked with a smirk. “You can run along now. We won’t be seeing you to the door.”
Samantha’s expression twitched. Not only did he refuse to help her, but he was even taking that attitude with her!
Didn’t men usually leap at the chance of currying favor with her?
Biting her lip, she scoffed. “Is this the man you got yourself, Martie? He has no class at all!”
However, Martha chuckled. “It’s only natural that he has terms of his own when he decides whether to help someone, Sammy. Besides, considering how rude you were to him this whole time, how can you blame him for acting this way?”
She would always take Ashton’s side no matter what.
Frowning, Samantha snapped, “Tell me how much money you want then! As long as you manage to treat me, I’ll give you as much as you want.”
Being an award–winning actress, she had more than enough money to spare.
“Ashton doesn’t need money, Sammy. If you agree to terminate your contract with Summit Media and sign with Evermore Media instead, you’ll be working with him, so he’ll naturally help you then,” Martha suggested with a cunning smile.
This was the real reason why she’d invited Samantha over tonight.

She didn’t want to be a pretty plaything for Ashton. She wanted to help him achieve all his goals, including destroying Roxy’s business empire.
Ashton was taken aback. He couldn’t resist smacking Martha on the butt. She was starting to make decisions on his behalf, huh?
That said, if Samantha agreed to those terms, he would be willing to forgive her earlier rudeness and treat her.
Without Samantha as Summit Media’s trump card and cash cow, the company would surely suffer a huge blow. It wouldn’t be long before it went bankrupt.
“That’s not going to happen!” Samantha looked furious.
“Don’t be so quick to refuse, Sammy. Ashton is a very generous man. Evermore Media can offer you everything Summit Media can, and with Ashton backing you up, you won’t have to worry about ever being bullied!” Martha said earnestly.
She genuinely wanted Samantha to join Evermore Media.
However, Samantha shook her head. “I still have nine years left on my contract with Summit Media. If I break it, I’ll owe them a huge sum. Besides, I promised Ms. Sloan I would never initiate an attempt to terminate the contract. I have no choice but to turn you down.”
She turned on her heels decisively and reached for the door again. However, before she could open it, her abdomen started acting up. Her body started trembling. Clutching her abdomen, she crouched down in pain, her face contorted.
“Sammy! What’s wrong?”
Looking quite worried, Martha rushed over to help Samantha to her feet, only to cry out in shock, “Why is your body so cold, Sammy? Babe, quick! Help her!”
