Martha looked rather frantic.

Ashton exhaled a resigned breath. He wasn’t keen to help someone as presumptuous as Samantha, but since Martha was asking him for help, he couldn’t refuse her.

He approached Samantha, placing his hand lightly on her lower abdomen. A glint of dark flames flickered in his eyes as strands of inner energy entered her body. Almost immediately, he located the source of her problem.

“Can you do something about it, babe?”

“Of course.”

Ashton lifted the hem of Samantha’s blouse, revealing her flat, smooth abdomen.

“What are you doing!”

Samantha’s face paled when she saw him press his hand against her abdomen, kneading it gently.

Just as she was about to rebuke him, however, a warm sensation spread through her abdomen. The cold that had tormented her so mercilessly began to dissipate, giving way to an unprecedented comfort.

She felt as if she were soaking in a hot spring. Her exhausted body relaxed completely, and she wished she could remain in that state forever.

Alas, she was in the middle of enjoying the relaxing massage when Ashton removed his hand. In an instant, the warmth vanished, leaving her with an intense sense of loss.

Pursing her lips, she eyed him with a complicated gaze.

Now, she finally believed Martha’s words. This man, who had seen her naked and taken advantage of her just moments ago, truly could cure her condition.

Of all people, why did he have to be Roxy’s ex–husband?

“Get up. The chills syndrome should remain suppressed for the next two days,” Ashton said curtly.

Since Samantha had shown him no respect, he wouldn’t offer any courtesy in return either. Even if she were a beautiful, award–winning actress and a rising star, it wasn’t enough to make him grovel.

“And after two days?” Samantha asked anxiously, her chest heaving a little.

She couldn’t stop thinking about how relaxed she felt earlier, and she longed to feel it again.

Ashton looked at her as if she were a fool. “I only temporarily suppressed the cold energy in your body. After two days, it will carry on doing what it has always done.”

“Huh? Then what’ll happen to me?” Samantha panicked.

Shrugging, he replied, “How is that any of my business? Weren’t you in a rush to leave? Get going, then. Martha

and I have unfinished business to attend to.”

He turned around and looked at Martha’s seductive figure, the Drakell technique stirring inside of him.

Suppressing the sense of humiliation it gave her, she put on a pitiful expression and asked, “Can’t you help me?

“Nope. It’s not like I don’t have better things to do with my time,” Ashton refused outright.

Samantha’s expression stiffened.

Martha quickly piped up, “I told you already, Sammy. All you have to do is terminate your contract with Summit Media and join Evermore Media instead. Once you’re working with Ashton, he’ll have every reason to help you. Just give it some thought!”

Samantha gritted her teeth. “Aren’t doctors supposed to be benevolent? How can you just stand by and do nothing when someone is suffering in front of you?”

She was trying to provoke him into helping her, but he simply snorted.

“Everything comes at a price. If you want me to help you, you need to meet my demands. I’m not a saint. Got it?”

“Ashton is a decent man, Sammy! As long as you join Evermore Media, you’ll receive everything you’ve been getting at Summit Media, too!” Martha urged.

Samantha was still hesitant. “But I’ve already promised Ms. Sloan, and there are nine years left on my contract…

That stumped Martha as well.

All of a sudden, Ashton asked, “If Roxy agrees to terminate your contract, would you be willing to join Evermore Media?”

Samantha paused. She hesitated for a moment before nodding. “If Ms. Sloan is willing to release me from my contract, I’ll join Evermore Media.”

“It’s a deal then. I’ll find a way to get the contract terminated. You can go now,” Ashton said coolly.

It would undoubtedly be a boon for Evermore Media if a cash cow like Samantha joined the company, and it’d be a devastating blow for Summit Media as well.
