Roxy’s voice trembled slightly.

Jay’s expression was twisted with fury, but he dared not get too close to Ashton for fear that he would beat him up again.

Samantha, on the other hand, looked hesitant. She didn’t want anyone to know about her chills syndrome.

After taking a deep breath, she announced her decision. “Ms. Sloan, I’m very sorry. Thank you for your guidance all these years. Never mind all the outstanding royalties and publicity fees–I won’t be needing them. Let’s work together again should the opportunity arise. I’ve already agreed to sign with Evermore Media for a year.”

This was her promise to Ashton. Only by doing this would he cure her illness. Everything came with a price, and this was an equal trade.

Sylvia’s eyes lit up when she heard that. She gazed at Ashton with even more respect and admiration. “Babe, you’re so good at this. I’m becoming more and more impressed by you,” she uttered softly.

“You were probably more impressed last night, weren’t you?” Ashton teased with a smirk, snaking an arm around Sylvia’s waist.

Sylvia flushed and nestled her head against his chest.

“But why, Sammy? There has to be a reason, right? How is Evermore Media better than Summit Media? Even if you’re doing this for me, you still can’t just sign with them. Not only are you betraying Ms. Sloan, but you’re also betraying me!” Jay fumed.

He was even thinking he could make their coupling a big hit. But if Samantha went to Ashton, his plan would be in

vain.

Besides, Samantha was a beauty. What if Ashton took advantage of her? Wouldn’t that make him a cuckold?

Samantha sighed and explained herself, “Jay, stop forcing me. I have my own reasons. If possible, I’ll return to Summit Media a year later.” But Jay’s expression remained dark.

Roxy looked at Samantha and then at Ashton. She was on the brink of collapse, yet she had to keep her composure, saying, “Samantha, you understand the damage you’re bringing to Summit Media by leaving right now, don’t you? Are you sure about this?”

“Ms. Sloan, I’m sorry,” Samantha answered with a resolute voice.

She lowered her gaze and softly added, “Ms. Sloan, if you hadn’t terminated my contract with Summit Media, I wouldn’t have chosen this.”

Roxy trembled as she felt a piercing pain in her chest. She had lost to Ashton again! First, it was Summit Lounge; now it’s Summit Media.

With Martha and Samantha joining them, Roxy could see how Evermore Media would surpass Summit Media. It was only a matter of time. Ashton was truly ruining everything she had, just as he said he would.

Biting her lip, Roxy felt a wave of helplessness overtake her. Only now did she realize how scary it was to be on Ashton’s bad side.

Disheartened, Roxy sank into a chair and turned to Jay. “Since Samantha has already made her decision, let’s just

go.”

Roxy didn’t want to reveal her vulnerable side to Ashton, nor did she want to let him witness her mental breakdown. She had to protect her pride in front of him and show that she had not lost the game just yet.

Summit Media still could retaliate.

“Samantha, have you been having an affair with Ashton? He’s been keeping you as his mistress, hasn’t he? He’s the reason you wouldn’t let me touch you, right?” Jay lost his cool and exploded, his face contorted with rage.
