Chapter 523

Roxy and Robert made a hasty exit, with Damian trailing right behind them, though both utterly ignored him.

Robert felt the weight of the world lift from his shoulders once they stepped out of Blossom Hall. He had survived a brush with death and finally allowed himself a long, shaky sigh of relief.

Roxy turned and slapped Robert hard across the face. “You’re not allowed to drink from now on! You’d better remember that I won’t come to your rescue if you get into trouble again, Robert!”

She had been utterly humiliated in front of Ashton and Elise. She felt that her pride and dignity had been ground into the dirt, leaving her with a raw, aching sense of shame that felt far more painful than death itself.

Robert nursed his stinging cheek, his head low as he mumbled his defense. “I didn’t mean for this to happen, Roxy. I just needed some release since I’ve been so on edge lately. Haven’t you realized something, Roxy? It seems like nothing has gone our way since you divorced Ashton.”

“What exactly is your point, Robert?” Roxy asked coldly.

Robert hesitated for a moment before replying softly, “If we’re being honest, Ashton was a solid guy, Roxy. You were never mistreated during those ten years, and the Sloan family had never hit a snag.

“You see, everything had been smooth sailing back then, and I think a big part of that was thanks to Ashton. I–I think you should consider remarrying Ashton, Roxy.”

Roxy widened her eyes in disbelief. She hadn’t expected that, after Renee, even her own brother, Robert, was pushing her back toward Ashton.

She glared at Robert with a stone–cold expression and barked, “I’ll act as if I never heard that, so don’t bring that up again! It’s never going to happen, as Ashton and I are mortal enemies now! Is that clear, Robert?”

“Got it, Roxy…” Robert murmured, reluctantly nodding his head while plotting his next move.

He was already thinking of ways to mend things between Ashton and Roxy. He mused that a single night of intimacy was the ultimate cure–all, as it would surely revive their old spark.

He also thought that all the bitterness and the blame would be forgotten in the heat of the moment.

Robert’s eyes lit up at that thought. He was practically patting himself on the back for his ingenuity, already running through the logistics of how he could actually pull this off.

“I’ll be heading back to the company first. I hope you’ll think long and hard about what you’ve done, Robert!” Roxy huffed and turned on her heel.

She resolved to accelerate her cultivation and become stronger than Ashton. She had absolute faith in her own potential, after all.

She felt as though Ashton had thoroughly stirred her competitiveness as she thought to herself, “I’ll never be defeated by you, Ashton! I’ll have you on your knees begging for mercy when the day comes!”

She completely abandoned the commanding demeanor she wore in public, adopting a soft, sultry voice as she spoke to Ashton. She looked at him with her Bewitching Gaze, which made it hard for any man to keep his head.

“I’m definitely blaming you for this, which is why I’m going to have to punish you thoroughly!” Ashton said, before lowering his head and kissing Elise.

It was ten minutes later when they finally parted.

Elise, breathless and flushed, leaned against Ashton, her body burning hot to the touch. She then shot him a sharp, playful look and said, “You’ve certainly made an enemy for life out of Roxy today, darling. You sure don’t plan on getting her back? I mean, Roxy is a really stunning woman, after all.”

“I have no plans of getting back with Roxy. I mean, I’ve got an entire flower garden to enjoy now, so there’s no reason for me to get hung up on one withered flower,” Ashton replied with a smile.

“You haven’t quite conquered me yet, have you, darling?” Elise cast a highly provocative look at Ashton while striking an irresistibly alluring pose, her fair skin making his entire being stir with desire.

“You’re quite bold, aren’t you, Elise?” Ashton said as he lifted Elise’s chin, taking in her stunningly beautiful face, her flawless, fiery figure, and her Bewitching Gaze.

“In one week, when I take my place as the ruler of the criminal underworld in Javonbury, my first order of business will be making sure you don’t leave my bed for days. I’m going to show you exactly what I’m capable of, Elise.”

“You’re going to make me tremble, darling,” Elise murmured seductively, her heart racing as she sensed Ashton’s imposing aggressiveness.

She was still held firmly in Ashton’s embrace as she suddenly reminded him. “You need to watch your back, darling. You see, my latest intel says that those people back in the Jalunese Martial Association are absolutely livid over Cornelius‘ death.

“They’ve already dispatched experts to Casoria, demanding blood for blood. I believe the Sage and those back in the Dominion Vanguard have already revealed your identity, so you must stay vigilant!”

“The Jalunese Martial Association, huh?” Ashton’s eyes flickered with a hint of pure excitement instead of fear; after all, he had been looking for a reason to go on a rampage, and a blood–soaked massacre was exactly the outlet he needed to vent his inner rage.

It was at that moment that Ashton’s heart gave a violent thrum. He could feel the spiritual and inner energy within him shifting and surging like a rising tide. He suddenly realized that he was about to break through the shackles of the divine realm.

His eyes gleamed, twin beams of brilliant radiance erupting from his gaze. And within him, he felt as if a raging tornado of energy were swirling violently.
