After a moment, Julia slowly exhaled. She looked at Ashton and said in an indifferent voice, “Ashton, I don’t know what kind of filthy trick you used to seduce my daughter, but you’re not worthy of her.
“I’ll make you an offer. So long as you’re willing to leave my daughter, I can satisfy whatever conditions you name. I can even ease the conflict between you and the Dominion Vanguard, sparing you from certain death two days from now.”
“It seems you still don’t understand, Mrs. Shepherd. Wanda is already my woman. I won’t leave her until the day I die.
“And as for whether I’m worthy of Wanda, that’s not something you need to worry about. As long as Wanda thinks I’m worthy, that’s all that matters to me,” Ashton said, his voice resolute.
A dangerous hostility flickered in Julia’s eyes. She hadn’t expected Ashton to be hard to reason with.
“Very well. Why should I argue with a man who’s about to die?” she said coldly.
“If you think you’re worthy of my daughter, then you try to remain alive for more than two days first. When the time comes, I’ll bring Wanda to watch you die at Clay’s hands. Then she’ll understand what a terrible match you are for her.”
She turned to Wanda. “Think carefully about what I said, Wanda.”
Julia strode away, unwilling to continue watching Ashton and Wanda’s intimate display.
After confirming that Julia was gone, Wanda exhaled in relief before turning to Ashton with mixed emotions. “I think I might’ve dragged you down with me this time. Connor is a petty man who holds grudges. I’m afraid he’ll start targeting you soon.”
“What’s this talk of dragging me down? You’re my girlfriend, Wanda,” Ashton said with a chuckle.
He even leaned in to try to kiss her lips again. They’d felt so plush and sweet just now. He couldn’t resist savoring the taste now.
“What are you doing?”
A blush quickly spread across Wanda’s pretty face as she remembered that Ashton had taken her first kiss. She hurriedly took a step back, but it was too late. He put an arm around her waist and kissed her.
Wanda had to struggle for a while more before she finally managed to push him off, her cheeks redder than ever. Her chest was heaving as a new sensation coursed through her.
At the same time, the Drakell technique had erupted within Ashton. He was genuinely attracted to the warming Wanda, and she had a special constitution that was highly compatible with his Drakeborne lineage as well. It would bring tremendous benefits to both of them if they engaged in paired cultivation.
He’d also come to realize something. When dealing with a proud woman like Wanda, he couldn’t be too passive. He had to be
more forceful and dominant.
“You perv!”
Wanda shot Ashton a glare. Nothing she did seemed to help her calm down.
“You’re the one who called me your boyfriend, Wanda. I’m just doing what boyfriends and girlfriends do with each other. How does that make me a perv?” Ashton chuckled.
“I’ll let it slide just this once. If you cross the line even more, I’m going to get very mad. I only did that earlier because I had no other choice!” Wanda huffed, which made her look all the more alluring–a tempting conquest.
“My mother said you’re engaging Clay Jernigan of the Dominion Vanguard in a duel to the death in two days?”
After swiftly changing the subject, Wanda eyed Ashton somewhat worriedly.
“Yeah. That’s why I came to look for you today,” Ashton answered. “I went to great lengths to ensure that Clay continues to be
