After wrapping the jacket tightly around herself, Melody tried to stand but ended up stumbling. Ashton tried to help steady her, but she shoved him away. “Don’t touch me”

The look of sheer hatred on her face made his voice turn cold as well. “Let’s get one thing straight. Everything that happened here tonight was entirely of your doing! You’re the one who started everything. None of this would’ve happened if you’d just listened to me earlier!”

“Are you blaming me now?”

Furious, Melody grabbed the throw pillows and threw them at him one by one. “Once we step out that door, Ashton, we’re going to pretend none of this ever happened!”

“That suits me just fine.”

“And Sylvia must never find out about this!” Melody added as she waved her clenched fist in front of Ashton. ” You’d better not get any ideas. I won’t be taking a liking to you just because of this.

“My ideal man is a valiant hero, not a leech like you! I’m still going to kick you out of the house the first chance I get!

“And you’d better not get any ideas about Sylvia either. I’ll be keeping my eye on you!”

After venting for a spell, she finally let out a heavy exhale as she continued to curse Ashton out on the inside. She couldn’t believe how rough he’d been with her. She was still in so much pain now.

“Take me home! The pain is going to kill me!”

It felt like she would need a few days to recover fully.

“Let’s go.”

Ashton didn’t hold it against Melody. He helped her out of the room.

As soon as they stepped out of the room, Melody saw Trent lying on the floor like a dead dog.

“What did you do to him?” she exclaimed in shock.

“Nothing much. I just made sure he won’t be able to call himself a man ever again.”

Melody’s eyes widened as she asked, “What does that mean?”

“I destroyed his manhood.”

“What did you say?”

Melody swallowed hard, feeling a flush of joy, but it was soon replaced with concern.

“You’ve gotten yourself into a world of trouble now, Ashton Trent’s family, the Kramers, is a distinguished family here in Javonbury. They operate quite a few mining operations in Javonbury and wield a great deal of power.

“Moreover, they care a lot about maintaining their family bloodline, and Trent is their only son…”

“So what?”

“What do you mean, so what? Have you seen anyone in the mining business who doesn’t have ties with the criminal underworld? You’re doomed!” Melody exclaimed, feeling rather panicked. “You should hurry up and make a run for it!”

“Relax. The Kramers are nothing to me.”

“Why are you still trying to talk big at a time like this, Ashton? Don’t tell me you expect Sylvia to deal with this massive headache for you. I’m warning you! She’s got enough trouble on her plate right now. Don’t add to her problems!”

Melody was getting rather scared.

Looking at Melody in surprise, Ashton remarked, “I didn’t know you cared so much about her.”

“Of course I do! She’s the closest person in the world to me.”

Feeling rather vexed, Melody grumbled, “If I’d known this would happen, I shouldn’t have even bothered coming to the birthday party. I can’t believe that monster did this to me! I really ended up doing it… and with a guy like you, no less! What a complete loss for me…”

Ashton wanted to roll his eyes. Ignoring her rants, he took her home. After hesitating for a moment, he said, “If you ever end up in a situation you can’t get yourself out of, you can come to me for help.”

Initially, he planned on telling Sylvia tonight that he wasn’t going to look after Melody anymore. He was going to leave her to her own fate. He didn’t expect to end up sleeping with her!

“You want me to come to you? Do you seriously think you’re such an incredible man? If you were so incredible, Roxy wouldn’t want to divorce you!”

Melody warned him once more, “Remember what I said earlier. Forget about everything that happened. Nothing’s going to change between us. This is a secret that we must both take to the grave!

“And you’d better not use this to blackmail me. I’m going to say this one more time–I will never fall for you!”
