Ashton couldn’t be bothered to say another word. Melody’s brain had to be messed up now.
Once he left, Melody began tossing and turning on the bed, her body still aching. For some reason, her mind kept replaying scenes of what they’d done earlier. Before long, her face was burning red.
“You bastard! You freaking bastard! Even if I was the one who started it, why didn’t you refuse me? You were clearly more eager than I was!” Melody ranted before biting her lip.
“This won’t do. I’ve already fallen into his hands, but I can let Sylvia end up in that scoundrel’s clutches too!”
As her thoughts continued to spiral wildly, she eventually fell asleep.
The sky was already quite dark when Ashton left the house and headed to Evermore Club. This was going to be the first business venture of his following his divorce from Roxy.
He had to turn it into a success no matter what–even if only for the sake of Isaac and the other men who chose to follow him with unwavering loyalty.
But the moment he arrived at the club, he froze.
Evermore Club looked positively lifeless. There was only a small trickle of patrons coming and going. Even the lights seemed dull. The entire place exuded the air of decline.
Right across the street, though, Summit Lounge was a sight to behold. The lavish seven–story building was bustling with endless streams of people. Clearly, its business was booming.
“Ashton!” Sylvia called out to him and made her approach as soon as he appeared. She’d been waiting for him, dressed in three–inch heels and casual loungewear that highlighted her curves.
There was a tinge of awkwardness in Ashton’s expression when he spotted Sylvia. After all, he did just have sex with Melody–even though it wasn’t his fault, per se.
“Do I look good, Ashton?”
Sylvia knew exactly how to play up her allure in front of him. Those eyes–full of affection that was for him and him alone–sometimes made it hard for him to resist.
Ashton wasn’t a saintly monk of any sort. As it was, he’d been physically attracted to Roxy when he first met her all those years ago, too.
“You look great,” he replied in perfect honesty.
“Feel free to drop by my room anytime tonight, Ashton. My door is always unlocked,” Sylvia said with a flutter of her eyelashes, instantly wiping all traces of the exhausting day from him.
Ashton glanced up at the six–story Evermore Club and aske curiously, “With this kind of foot traffic, the place has to be running at a loss, right?”
“Yeah,” Sylvia confirmed with a frustrated frown.
She stole a jealous glance at the thriving Summit Lounge across the way before pouting.
“If you hadn’t agreed to step in and take over Evermore Club, Ashton, I’d be looking to sell it off. Between the hosts, hostesses, singers, and all the other staff, the daily operational expenses are quite significant. It’s impossible to keep the club afloat if I don’t have enough parons coming in.”
Her tone became coy and pleading as she added, “Ashton, you must keep Evermore Club alive and crush Roxy’s

Summit Lounge!”
“I will,” Ashton promised.
Just then, a mocking voice rang out, “Oh? If it isn’t Ashton, the guy who got kicked out with his tail between his legs.”
Roxy and Calvin had just parked the car and were heading to Summit Lounge when they ended up bumping into Ashton and Sylvia.
“What are you doing here?” Roxy questioned, displeased after glancing at Ashton and seeing Sylvia clinging to his side.
