Logan’s gaze hardened as he glared at Ashton. He had tolerated Ashton for a long time, but hearing that the Empyrean Sentinel was inferior to the Legion hit a nerve. His reason for seizing Javonbury was to prove that his organization had surpassed them in

every way.

“Keep running your mouth, and we will take you down first and pass judgment on the spot. The Legion is a relic of the past. Why would we be inferior to an organization that’s being liquidated as we speak?”

Ronan’s voice was bone–chilling, and his killing intent was raging. He truly wanted Ashton dead.

Ashton let out a short laugh. Then, right in front of Logan and the others, he spat on the ground.

“The legionnaires were the ones who fought and died for this country. If they were as corrupt as you, we would have been just as pathetic and worthless as you are now. Don’t compare yourselves to us. You’re just a pack of parasites with no conviction. One day, I’m going to wipe every last one of you out.”

“Insolence!”

“How dare you!”

Logan and Ronan finally snapped–Ashton had just ripped the bandage off their ugliest scars.

“Draw your swords!”

Neil and Kayla barked the command at the same time. Cold killing intent flared as they squared off against Logan’s group.

As the sword was unsheathed, the cold steel caught the light. Every member of the Legion drew their weapons, their eyes burning with the desire for battle.

They knew the combined forces of the Dominion Vanguard and the Empyrean Sentinel outmatched them. But as long as they were still alive, they would fight for the honor of the Legion.

Eunice stood up and entered a combat stance, prepared to go down fighting. She looked at Ashton with eyes full of admiration

and respect.

“No wonder I slept with him…” she murmured.

Eunice no longer regretted her night with him. She knew she hadn’t misjudged him.

Just then, her gaze met Roxy’s. A jagged crack seemed to split the air between them, severing their friendship once and for all.

The killing intent exploded, and the atmosphere grew more dangerous by the second. One wrong move and the hall would turn into a bloodbath.

“Ashton, today is Mr. Vance’s birthday banquet. Why don’t we both take a step back? Let’s settle the grudge between you and him first,” Logan finally said.

Ashton stared into his eyes and replied simply, “Sure.”

With a wave of his hand, every member of the Legion sheathed their swords. They sat back down with disciplined, military precision.

Logan let out a breath and gave Ashton a long look. He realized he had underestimated him.

“Such a shame,” he muttered, shaking his head. “If he had joined the Empyrean Sentinel, we would be unstoppable. Why did it have to be the Legion?”

Logan ordered his men to stand down.

Ronan followed suit, retracting his killing intent but keeping his eyes locked on Ashton with cold hatred.

“Just him? Impossible. Look around. The Sage has countless powerful backers. Ashton has almost no one. The Sage doesn’t even need to fight him personally. He can crush him with numbers alone.”
