Chapter 77
The handprint on Hank’s face was impossible to miss. Ashton had slapped Hank right off his feet. He was brutal and harsh, much to everyone’s shock.
Hank now handled most of Yorkshore Group’s affairs. He held an incredibly powerful position in the company, and Natalie trusted him a great deal. Slapping him in the face was akin to slapping her as well.
Natalie had her fingers in the pie on both sides of the law. She wielded tremendous power and influence in Javonbury. If not for that, she wouldn’t have been able to achieve a monopoly on the liquor supply in the city.
“Oh, shit!”
Gene and Louie were sporting grim expressions as well. Even they dared not provoke Natalie. If she were to be angered, no one would be able to withstand the consequences.
Calvin laughed and commented, “Does Ashton really think he’s the king of the world? He’s screwed now! Knowing what Ms. York’s like, she’s going to break one of his arms, at least!”
He was thrilled. He eagerly looked forward to seeing Ashton end up in a sorry state.
Meanwhile, Roxy’s expression was frosty. She started feeling even more disappointed in Ashton. This time, she wasn’t going to put in a good word for him. He had to pay the price for his actions.
“You keep provoking me time and time again, Mr. Gray. Do you seriously think I’m a pushover?” Natalie snarled, her eyes flashing with hostility.
Ashton had truly pissed her off now, and the pain in her head made her feel even more murderous.
However, he simply approached her and whispered into her ear, “Is your head hurting like mad right now, Ms. York? Does it feel like something is gnawing on the inside of your skull?”
Stunned, Natalie questioned in a shaky voice, “What did you say?”
She’d kept her headaches a secret from the public, so how did Ashton know about them?
“You’ve been poisoned. In fact, you were deliberately given a parasitic poison,” Ashton bluntly said.
Natalie’s gaze hardened, her eyes glinting dangerously. “Who did it?”
“Nat, I’m going to get someone to end his life right here, right now! Anyone who tries to stop me will be my enemy. I’m going to see to it that Evermore Club goes bankrupt today!” Hank howled.
His face was all twisted in anger. He’d just been slapped in public, which was a humiliation of the highest order. He was determined to get even with Ashton and salvage his dignity!
“Shut up!” Natalie abruptly snapped at Hank.
Thinking he’d misheard her, he growled, “What did you say, Nat? Ashton just hit me! Why are you still wasting your breath with him? Let’s just break one of his arms first I want to hear him scream like a baby crying for its mother!”
“I told you to shut up! Let me finish my conversation with Ashton!” Natalie snarled as she shot Hank an icy glare.
That look alone made Hank shrink backward. Although he was brimming with anger and resentment, he dared not utter another word.
Everything he had today was credited to Natalie. Before she died, he’d have to continue appeasing her.
At the same time, everyone else was dumbstruck.

“What did Ashton say to Ms. York? Why does she have such a grave expression on her face right now?” Calvin questioned. He had a bad feeling about this.
“No matter what he says, it won’t make a difference. Based on my understanding of Ms. York, she won’t be letting Ashton get away with what he did today. He’s probably just trying to stall for time,” Roxy said with a shake of her head.
She didn’t think he had what it took to smooth things over.
Chuckling, Calvin remarked, “Excellent. I’ve had enough of Ashton.”
As the wind blew, the atmosphere grew even more tense. Natalie’s expression was icy, but her chest was heaving as she repeated, “Tell me who poisoned me, and tell me how you found out about it!”
She had long suspected that she’d been poisoned.
