As he held her gaze, the pull of her Phoenixborne lineage stirred something fierce within him, and an impulse rose to claim her then and there.

“Don’t be overly confident. My dad is powerful, and Cassian is even stronger. Every appointed heir of an ancient martial family is an unmatched prodigy. Once they enter the world, they are destined to overshadow the rest,” Faye said in a low voice.

“What about you? Do you have a chance of breaking into the divine realm?”

Ashton shook his head. He had just attempted another breakthrough, but the result was the same as before.
