Chapter 87
Natalie’s blunt, harsh words made Roxy widen her eyes, anger flashing across her face.
The infuriated Calvin couldn’t resist jumping in, declaring, “That’s where you’re wrong, Ms. York! Ashton is nothing but a pretty boy—a shameless loser! How is Roxy unworthy of him? He’s not even fit to lick the ground she walks on!”
He just couldn’t get it. Why were all these stunning women falling for Ashton? What the hell was so good about him? How could Ashton possibly measure up to even a strand of his hair?
If anything, Natalie should be falling for him! He’d been lusting after Natalie’s flawless face and figure for ages now!
Natalie’s gaze turned icy. For some reason, she couldn’t stand hearing anyone insult Ashton.
Naturally, Calvin didn’t notice the change in Natalie’s expression. He continued rambling on, “You must’ve been fooled by Ashton’s facade, Ms. York. Roxy fell for the same lies, too, back then. She’s only recently come to see his
true colors.
“No matter what Ashton tells you, Ms. York, you mustn’t believe a single word he says. He’s nothing but a heinous and shameless scoundrel. All these years, he’s been leeching off the Sloans and plotting to seize their assets for himself. You have to be on your guard!
“What’s more, he used to be a street thug. Who knows how many awful crimes he has committed? You have to stay away from trash like him, Ms. York. He’s not fit to even be mentioned in the same breath as people of our standing-”
Before Calvin could finish his rant, Natalie slapped him across the face, snapping, “Shut up!”
Calvin stood dumbstruck. He couldn’t believe he’d been slapped.
“Is this your first love, Ms. Sloan? A guy who slanders my greatest friend without a shred of evidence? Do I look like a pushover to you?” Natalie questioned, not mincing her words at all.
“How is this slander-”
“That’s enough! Stop talking!” Roxy snapped. Feeling extremely tired, she pulled Calvin to the side, not wanting the situation to get worse.
Calvin scowled darkly. He couldn’t possibly feel more jealousy and hatred toward Ashton than he did now.
“Ms. York, I hope there’ll still be a chance for us to work together in the future,” Roxy said as she forced out a strained smile. She didn’t want to completely burn her bridges with Natalie.
“I’m afraid that won’t be very likely,” Natalie remarked.
She gave Roxy a mocking look before turning to leave. Just before getting into her car, she didn’t forget to give Ashton a seductive wink, not bothering to keep her actions hidden in the slightest.
Thanks to that, everyone could see that something was going on between Ashton and Natalie. The men were all incredibly envious of him.
“Roxy! Ashton is absolutely shameless! And Natalie must be blind to fall for someone like him. She’ll regret it sooner or later!” Calvin declared, his expression full of spite and resentment.
Roxy felt deeply frustrated. She looked at Ashton, only to find that he was still completely ignoring her. It was as if she didn’t even exist.

Roxy felt a stinging pain in her heart, but that was soon followed by a deep sense of hatred and contempt for Ashton.
“Hold it right there, Ashton!”
She marched up to him and snapped coldly, “You must be feeling really smug right now, huh? You think you can bring me down just by snatching the liquor supply from Yorkshore Group away from me?
“You think that’s enough to save Evermore Club? Enough for you to delude yourself into believing you can surpass Summit Lounge?”
“Don’t get so worked up, Roxy. It’s not good for your health” Sylvia piped up, smiling sweetly as she leaned against Ashton.
