Divorced and Dominant Now You Cry novel Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Feeling a surge of rage, Roxy said grimly, It was indeed Ashton who told Calvin to do that, but he didn’t mean any harm by it either

As soon as those words came out, she felt a wash of regret and dared not meet Ashton’s eyes.

I see,Gene remarked. I’m a reasonable man myself. Moe, slap Mr. Emerson three times and let him go.

Got it!

Moe sauntered up to Calvin and slapped him hard across the face three times. Calvin’s face whipped back and forth as the slaps left bright red handprints on his face. He ended up looking rather pathetic.

Once all three slaps were done, the two men subduing Calvin released him.

Calvin clenched his jaw, but despite being furious, he dared not let it show. Keeping his head low, he came up to Roxy and muttered, A wise man doesn’t fight battles he can’t win, Roxy. Let’s leave first. I’ll get even with them some other day!

But Ashton-

How is Ashton any of your concern? If we don’t leave now, what if these men change their minds? It’ll be too late then!Calvin insisted before dragging Roxy toward the entrance without another word.

Gene’s men didn’t stop them.

As they passed Ashton, Calvin snarled viciously, You’re screwed now, Ashton!

Roxy had wanted to try and explain herself to Ashton, but she found that he completely ignored her presence.

Roxy.Sylvia abruptly leaned in close and whispered into Roxy’s ear, Thanks.

Raising a brow, Roxy eyed the smiling Sylvia in confusion and asked, Why are you thanking me?

I thought I would never get the chance to be with Ashton, but you amazed me with your foolishness. Thank you for leaving Ashton. Promise me that you won’t ever regret divorcing him.Sylvia’s voice was low, audible only to Roxy.

Roxy felt a wave of anger in her heart. She and Sylvia had never gotten along. This was Sylvia’s deliberate attempt to provoke her!

Why would I regret tossing aside something I don’t want? You don’t need to purposely get close to Ashton just to antagonize me, Sylvia. That’s an incredibly stupid thing to do!Roxy snarled icily.

With that, she brushed past Sylvia and walked out of Noir Bar with Calvin. But as soon as they stepped out onto the threshold, Calvin said, Roxy, let’s go back inside and see what happens to Ashton.

He was too pissed. He couldn’t just swallow his anger like that. At least he could feel better once he saw Ashton getting humiliated.

Why did you choose to frame Ashton?Roxy questioned in obvious displeasure.

Calvin quickly explained, I had no choice but to do that, Roxy. Those people would never have let me go if I hadn’t said that. Ashton used to be a thug, just like them. Maybe he has a way to get himself out of this. Besides, I only did it to protect you.

Don’t ever do that again!

I won’t,Calvin promised. This only happened because I haven’t established myself in Javonbury yet. Just give me some time. In the future, I’ll make Gene get on his knees and apologize to us!

The two of them snuck back into Noir Bar and positioned themselves in a discreet corner.

I hope you can resolve this situationRoxy murmured to herself as she looked at Ashton in concern.

However, Calvin was inwardly cursing Ashton, praying that he’d get his limbs broken and be reduced to a cripple.

Meanwhile, Gene was confronting Ashton. You told someone to hit one of my men. Don’t you think you owe me an explanation?

What do you want?

Either let me break your limbs, orlet that gorgeous chick beside you spend the night with me?Gene suggested threateningly.

Gloating smugly, Moe studied Sylvia’s alluring figure and said, Hey, babe. Come and be my bosswoman!

Yeah!

Do it!

The rest of Gene’s men joined in.

Sylvia remained fearless, but she hugged Ashton tightly and said, What should we do, Ashton? I only want to be your woman

Sighing, Ashton pulled Sylvia a little further away from him. Otherwise, she would probably get even more physical with him.

I haven’t seen you in ten years, Goober. You sure have gotten a lot bolder,Ashton remarked nonchalantly.
