Jaden, Thomas, Micah, and Gavin stood at the front of the formation. Their eyes locked onto Lawrence. Behind them, hundreds of followers gathered with murderous intent blazing in their eyes.

Lawrence stepped forward and released a violent surge of spiritual energy from his body. It spread outward and formed a barrier behind him that sealed Ashton and the others away from the battlefield so that he alone faced the entire opposing force.

His white hair whipped in the wind, and his robes rustled sharply as he declared, “You all have ten seconds to withdraw from my domain and clear the path. If you stay in my way, you’ll be treated as enemies of the Legion and as traitors to the nation. I will kill you without mercy.”

Those final words stirred the atmosphere like a storm.

Jaden and the others shuddered at the same moment as a wave of killing intent swept over them. Several people couldn’t suppress their fear and began to tremble.
