As soon as Calvin spotted Ashton, he quickly ducked behind Eunice before calling out fiercely, “Ashton! Tell Arlo and all those other bastards to get out of Summit Lounge at once! You’d better do it before it’s too late. If you don’t, we’ll have you arrested and jailed for several years! You’d be screwed then!”

Hearing that, Ashton instantly figured out what was happening. He had to admit that when it came to shaking down businesses for a protection fee, Arlo and the others didn’t waste any time at all.

Shrugging, he said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Don’t play dumb, Ashton! Do you dare to claim that you’re not the one who told Arlo and the others to come and cause trouble? What’s this? You’ve got the nerve to do it, but you’re too chicken to admit it? Are you even a man?” Calvin fumed.

Ashton glanced at Calvin. The moment their eyes met, Calvin jolted in fear and quickly averted his gaze.

“Do you also think I sent them?” Ashton asked as he eyed Roxy emotionlessly.

“Didn’t you?”

“Of course not. However… even if I did, so what?” Ashton asked.

“I already told you, Roxy. Everything you have right now isn’t the result of your own efforts. Everything that was once bestowed upon you will soon be taken back, little by little. Take my advice. Shut down Summit Lounge and cut your losses short. Otherwise, you’ll only suffer even more.”

“Why have you sunk so low, Ashton? To think I’d felt a bit of remorse toward you before this. You’re beyond hope!” Roxy shrieked in outrage. “Do you think that just by doing so, you can force me into admitting that I’m wrong? That I’ll even change my mind and come crawling back to you?

“Do you think that you can prove your worth like that? Let me make this clear to you. Everything you do will only make me look down on you even more!”

“Ashton is not at all interested in taking you back, Roxy. Don’t flatter yourself so much,” Sylvia piped up as she looped her arm around Ashton’s, her expression alluring. “Ashton is just taking back everything he bestowed upon you. And he doesn’t care whether or not you look down on him.”

“Why, you-”

Roxy gnashed her teeth.

“Don’t get angry over scum like him, Roxy,” Eunice said.

After pulling Roxy back, she glanced at Gene and Louie, who were standing behind Ashton. Their presence further confirmed her impression of Ashton–that he was nothing more than a petty criminal.

“Are you sure you’re not going to get those people to leave Summit Lounge, Ashton?” Eunice questioned icily.

“Sorry, but that’s out of my hands.”

“Take him away!” Eunice commanded the police officers with her.

“Yes, Captain Clark!”

Two police officers attempted to move in on Ashton.

“Let’s see who’d dare to lay a hand on Mr. Gray!” Isaac roared as he and his men approached with their eyes blazing.

Sylvia quickly stopped Isaac to avoid a clash. Then, she turned to Eunice and asked, “What gives you the right to take him into custody?”

“I’m a legionnaire! I have the authority to demand that he comply with my investigations!” Eunice declared domineeringly.

Sylvia’s expression hardened as she remarked, “My, my, what an impressive show of authority! And if we refuse to comply?”

“The refusal to comply with my investigation is an act of defiance against the Legion! Can he handle the consequences of that?” Eunice threatened.

She was determined to teach Ashton a lesson, even if it meant violating her code of conduct as a legionnaire.

Her understanding of the situation was simple. Ashton had teamed up with a bunch of hooligans to bully a weak woman like Roxy. She definitely couldn’t allow that to happen. She already considered Roxy a friend of hers.

Moreover, Ashton’s attitude had also pissed her off.
