Chapter 96
Kayla couldn’t understand why Lawrence had such high regard for Ashton and even insisted on making the trip to Javonbury himself,
Lawrence, an old man with a slightly hunched figure, smiled and reminded Kayla, “Never judge a person based on appearances. Take a look at all the details about Ashton, With every single thing he has done, he’s fought evil and championed the good.
“He has saved more people than you and I can even imagine. Over a thousand people have benefited from his actions. Check the list of people he had taken down in the past. Was there a single one who wasn’t wicked and guilty of the most unforgivable crimes?
“Most importantly, I sense something familiar from him. I didn’t expect him to come from such a lineage.”
Lawrence’s gaze had been fixed on Ashton the whole time. As if recalling something, he had a hesitant look in his eyes, fraught with mixed emotions. It felt like he was making a major decision.
“What lineage?” Kayla asked, her curiosity piqued.
Instead of answering the question, Lawrence simply shook his head and said, “Let’s go over there. We can’t let Eunice dig herself in deeper with this mistake.”
Lawrence slowly got up and started making his way over to Ashton. The closer he got, the more certain he was about his earlier deductions.
Ashton did indeed come from that particular lineage.
“Take him away!” Eunice firmly commanded yet again.
Roxy looked at Ashton and said coolly, “Stop making mistake after mistake, Ashton. As long as you get Arlo and the others to leave Summit Lounge, we can consider this matter over.”
Meanwhile, Calvin piped up mockingly, “You really think you’re such a big shot, huh, Ashton? A thug will always be a thug. You’ll never amount to anything decent.
“Once you’re thrown in prison and taken to court, you won’t be able to hide all of the things you’ve done before. Maybe you’ll even be sentenced to spend a decade in prison! Let’s see whether you can still be smug then!”
Calvin was over the moon with joy right now. He was dying to see Ashton suffer!
Just then, Louie leaned in close to Ashton and whispered, “Get going, Mr. Gray. I’ll cover for you.”
At the same time, he signaled his subordinates with a look, telling them to get ready for a fight.
Gene came over and suggested, “Mr. Gray, you can hide out at my place, Noir Bar.”
“Don’t even think about running away, Ashton!” Eunice snapped coldly. “I’ve got my eyes on you already. If you don’t tell those people to leave Summit Lounge, then you’re going to come with us today and cooperate with the investigation!”
She had her heart set on teaching Ashton a lesson and putting him in his place.
“You want to take me away, huh? Go ahead and give it your best shot,” Ashton said nonchalantly.

Eunice tensed up. She didn’t expect Ashton to be this unyielding. Furious, she snarled, “Are you sure you want to be this stubborn, Ashton? We won’t be going so easy on you once we take you back to the police station!”
Her brows were tightly furrowed. As it was, she knew she was abusing her authority right now. She had no valid reason to take Ashton into custody.
Unfortunately, things had already come too far for her to back down, even if only for the sake of her pride.
“Stop wasting your breath. Go ahead and prove to me just how domineering and unreasonable you so–called legionnaires are,” Ashton retorted with a scoff.
He didn’t mind teaching Eunice a lesson. Even if the situation got out of hand, he had the means to hold his ground.
“Seize him! Take him away!” Eunice roared in fury.
Several police officers reached out to grab Ashton by the shoulders and subdue him. But at the very next moment, their bodies jolted and staggered backward involuntarily before stumbling.
Eunice’s eyes widened. Enraged, she reached out to grab Ashton herself.
All of a sudden, her body went slack. A wrinkled hand had grabbed her wrist, and an aged voice rang out, “You’ve crossed the line, Eunice.”
