Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 23

Conrad closed the window with a blank expression, shutting out the cheerful noise from the Salisbury family’s side.

Korey spoke up, his voice tense. “Your sample was mistakenly taken by a nurse at the hospital. It’s already been cultivated into a living embryo.

“If nothing went wrong, it’s probably… already been implanted in a surrogate by now…

“In a few months, there could be… a child with your bloodline coming into this world…”

Korey couldn’t bring himself to say anything else.

The whole situation was so ridiculous, it felt like something out of a soap opera. Who could have imagined this would happen to Conrad? Suddenly having a child out there, from nowhere… Who wouldn’t freak out?

Conrad’s handsome face was hard and cold, his eyes icy and sharp. A vein stood out on his forehead.

“Keep digging,” he ordered.

“I want every detail. Don’t leave anything out.

“Find out who made the mistake. Find out who the surrogate is. I want answers by tomorrow night.”

“Yes, sir,” Korey replied quickly.

At least, if the pregnancy was still in the early stages, there might be time to fix things.

The Sullivan family would never accept a child whose origins were unknown. And there was no way the future heir would have a birth story this scandalous.

The hospital and the doctor in charge were about to have a very bad time.

Korey turned and left, his own face now cold as stone.

Whoever dared to cross Conrad Sullivan had better be ready to pay for it.

Wiona sneezed.

Jace looked down at her, his voice soft. “You okay? Are you cold?”

He slipped off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. Not far away, Grandma Grace watched and nodded, clearly pleased.

“See that, Jean? As long as that Kelley isn’t around, Jace and Wiona are perfect together.”

Jean stayed quiet.

She could see the look on Wiona’s face—disgust and resistance, barely held in check. Hopefully she didn’t throw up on the young master again.

Wiona was really fighting the urge to fling off Jace’s jacket. The familiar scent of his cologne was enough to make her stomach roll. The only reason she managed to hold it in was that she didn’t want to ruin Grandma Grace’s mood tonight.

Just then, the last guest finally arrived, fashionably late.

When Wiona saw who it was, she felt Jace tense up beside her.

“Wiona, do you really not care, or are you just putting on an act for me?”

Jace had a photo of Kellen in his bedroom. Back when he hadn’t found her yet, he would look at that photo whenever he missed her. So Wiona, who sometimes went into his room to put things away, knew exactly who Kellen was.

She knew Kellen was the one Jace really cared about.

But ever since that night, Wiona had always acted calm whenever Kellen showed up, and that unsettled Jace. Instead of feeling relieved, it just left him annoyed and restless.

Wiona let out a small, helpless sigh. “What do you expect me to do, with everyone watching?”

Jace stared at her for a moment, as if trying to figure out if she was telling the truth, then finally looked away. “Don’t overthink it. I’ll explain everything about Kellen later.”

Wiona wasn’t going to overthink anything. She’d already seen things clearly a long time ago.

However, she wasn’t bothered, but it didn’t mean the other Salisbury relatives weren’t.

“Why is she here?”

“What’s the old lady thinking?”

“Poor Wiona, this is so embarrassing for her. I thought the matriarch loved her, but I guess not.”

“Isn’t this supposed to be a family gathering? Why did she invite an outsider?”
