Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 231

Wiona bit down with every ounce of strength she had. The taste of blood hit her tongue instantly, thick and metallic. Warm liquid ran from her mouth, mixing with the blood pouring from Jace’s hand.

Jace let out a sharp scream. “Let go!”

He didn’t even think, just grabbed her hair and yanked her head back hard. Her skull cracked against the chair. The world spun, colors blurring together. For a moment, she couldn’t even find her bearings. Still, she clamped down one last time, tearing fiercely.

Jace’s hand hung at his side, dripping blood. A chunk of flesh was missing, bitten clean off.

“Wiona…” His eyes were wild, bloodshot with rage. He always knew she was unpredictable, but he never thought she could go this far. He raised his hand, ready to strike her, when suddenly the heavy iron door burst open with a crash.

“Stop!”

“What’s going on in here?”

“Let Ms. Morgan go, right now!”

A group of people rushed in, their faces grave.

“Ms. Morgan, we’re so sorry. There’s been a serious mistake. You were brought in without proper evidence,” one of them said as they hurried over.

“We apologize, truly.”

“The officers involved have already been disciplined. We’re deeply sorry for any distress we’ve caused.”

“We hope you can forgive us.”

They looked like top officials, and one stepped forward to unlock her handcuffs personally. Two female officers came to her side, gently helping her up. Just like that, Wiona was free from the interrogation room.

Jace was left standing there, confused. He pressed his bloody hand to his side and hurried after her, searching the crowd for his informant, but they were nowhere to be seen. Realizing something had gone wrong, he caught up at the door and grabbed Wiona’s arm. “Wiona, you can’t just walk out—”

Jace’s eyes drifted, his tone mocking. Kyle suddenly realized something was off. He turned around. Wiona was gone. Madison, too.

Kyle’s face darkened. “Dammit.” He yanked out his phone and dialed Wiona’s number, but all he got was the cold, automated message. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off…”

Jace barely had a moment to feel smug before cold metal snapped around his wrists.

“Mr. Salisbury, since Ms. Morgan has filed a complaint, you need to come with us for questioning.”

Wiona sat in the car and took the phone Madison handed her. The screen was black. Dead battery.

“Sorry,” Madison said. “Someone kept calling you nonstop. I didn’t know if I should pick up, so by the time we got here, it was dead.”

“It’s fine,” Wiona said, smiling gratefully. “Thank you for reaching out for me.” She glanced at the driver. “Mason, you too. You always manage to surprise me. Can I ask who you called this time? The police seemed really nervous.”
