Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 232

“If your connections weren’t really strong, there’s no way they could have covered for Jace’s people… I wouldn’t have walked out of the station so easily either…”

Wiona had barely stepped outside when she spotted Mason waiting by the curb. While Jace and Kyle were still bickering, she grabbed Madison and slipped into the car, eager to get out of there. Once inside, Wiona gulped down more than half a bottle of water. She finally caught her breath and tried to sort out her thoughts.

Mason glanced at her in the rearview mirror and said, “Boss, you’ve got it wrong. I wasn’t the one who got you out.”

Madison quickly chimed in, “Wiona, I didn’t call him either. Actually, I called my brother. But like you said, your ex-husband has connections. Kyle was still trying to pull some strings when you were already released.”

Wiona stared at them, confused. “So… it wasn’t you two who helped me?”

Madison shook her head. “It really wasn’t us.”

Mason nodded. “I only came after I got notified that you were in trouble. That’s when I hurried over.”

Wiona looked down at her phone. The person who kept calling…

She turned to Madison. “You said someone kept calling me, but you were too scared to answer. What did I save them as?”

Madison’s face was a mix of confusion and worry. “You have him saved as ‘Big Creditor.’”

Conrad? Her mind landed on the name and, honestly, she wasn’t even surprised. Who else in Stonehill could pull this off? Not even the Morgan family had this kind of power. Only he could have gotten her out, and not just quietly, but with people actually apologizing as they let her go.

A strange feeling welled up inside Wiona. It was like something sharp had poked a tiny hole in her chest. Her heart trembled a little. She wanted to call Conrad back, but her phone was dead. She handed it to Mason so he could charge it.

Madison rambled on, her eyes full of worry. Korey was frozen, not sure what to say. Mason looked away, pretending he hadn’t heard any of it.

But Wiona just smiled. “Thank you, Madison. Really. And thank you for running around taking care of everything tonight. You must be exhausted. Go home and get some sleep. If you don’t want to go back to the Morgans, stay at my place as long as you want. If you need money, I’ll have Mason give you some. Don’t worry about anything else. I’ll be fine, I promise.”

She gave Madison’s hand a gentle squeeze, then stepped out of the car.

Madison could only watch, anxious and helpless, as Wiona got into the luxury car waiting up ahead. Even after the car pulled away, she just stood there, worrying.

Mason got back behind the wheel and glanced at Madison in the mirror. He couldn’t help but try to reassure her. “Don’t worry, Ms. Morgan. She is really going to be okay.”

Madison frowned. “How do you know? Ever since the truth about our family came out, I’ve known how tough things have been for her. Did she really… did she have to sell herself? Did she find someone even more powerful than the Salisburys or the Morgans?”
